theheadcrusherFun & FascinatingI came to this podcast because I love Rated H, All the Best Lines, & Attaboy Clarence/Secret History of Hollywood, & had never even seen a Hammer film before. I've truly loved the fact they started at the beginning because it's such an interesting lens to view the non-A, cheapy pictures of bygone eras. I also love the tangentially related deep dives on hand cranks, very specific words for murder, the origin of the name Scotland Yard, etc, & of course the Hammer Heroes biography sections are great too. Best is the humor & camaraderie between the hosts, & it's been a delight to be introduced to Cev Moore & his business plans. This show is eminently re-listenable & always enjoyable.

Surf2Die4Would far preferstarting with Curse of Frankenstein and on. The old cheap noirs were okay and I have most of them on DVD, but the deep dive not so much. Giving it five stars still as it’s not a fault, per se, but my preference and I would think the vast majority, also. The Hammer House of Podcast is the only other exclusive Hammer of which I’m aware, but the guy says “ummm, uhhh” and “errr” incessantly (I counted about 128 during a short intro) and I just can’t. Decided to go for it, anyway and I may be incorrect if it’s an overall history which is more palatable, and given it sounds scripted the “filler words” won’t be prevalent. Only partially scripted and the later banter amongst them is fine, with the exception of constantly cracking each other up which isn’t nearly as funny to the audience as those who do this think, if they care.

BallyhooGuySurprises behind each door!A unique and detailed look at a studio synonymous with horror that has revealed some fascinating surprises behind each door in the house that give the listener an essential lesson in film history and how a legend gets its start. Each host carries mighty weight in giving essential context and perspective that proves the House pf Hammer is much more than what it seems to the casual observer. An Absolute Must Listen for Film History fans!
