Our card this season is Darlene Hulse, the 4 of Hearts from Indiana.Darlene Hulse was forcibly taken from her home in Argos, Indiana on August 17, 1984. Her two oldest daughters witnessed the attack but they didn’t recognize the man who took their mother. Though Darlene’s body would be found a day later, just six miles from her home, her killer has evaded law enforcement for almost four decades and the investigation has remained cold…until now.

A ‘must listen to’ for sure!
I don’t normally enjoy anything passed the actual crime. Not to intrigued by investigations or the criminal prosecution that comes after. But wow, this was really well done, kept me on my toes the entire time. I started listening since I had no more new episodes of other podcasts this week. Literally couldn’t stop, highly recommend.

    Mind Capturing
I’ve truly enjoyed listening to this story. The information was a lot to listen to and it would make me wonder myself, who is the one that’s responsible. I almost want to start all over and listen to it again. This case needs to be solved and I hope it does sooner than later.

    Could have been condensed
I am a fan of Crime Junkie and the work they do. However, this particular case was very drawn out for no reasons episodes are very short with half of the time being ads. I just feel like it could have been condensed way more. And they do come off slightly accusatory. I am all for checking our “authorities” when they need to be, episodes 8 & 9 felt a little targeted.

    Slowest show ever.

    Astonishing work done
I’ve been a crime junkie since I was about 15 years old, I am now 21. I can say from listening to Crime Junkie and now this series, Ashley, Brit, Emily and others involved with either series are doing investigators and families a favor. Ashley and her team going deep into this case and pressing authorities to take action and do the dirty work is what covering cases on podcasts is about, to stir up interest and memory. I am astonished by Ashley and her teams deductive skills and all they have found. I hope to have updates soon. I am so invested in this case, and will keep praying for answers and peace for the family.

    Hyperbole
Stupidest, inconclusive waste of time. Does anything come of this? No. If this is about spreading awareness, great. You are the 2020’s “Unsolved Mysteries” super woke hostess. But nothing has come of this and I wasted a lot of time waiting for resolution that never came.

    Long
I finally gave up it seemed like it just went on and on and could have been cut down . I dropped off at episode 10

    Eye-opener!
It is really disheartening to listen to this podcast. No wonder there are so many unsolved cases. Ashley and her team should be the ones hired to look into cold cases. The authorities attached to this case appear to have bungled it from the start and continue to refuse to do a deep dive into it and test evidence.
  • Thank you from GA
    Thank you
My daughter and I are massive true crime fans. We discovered this channel on the way to. Vermont on a college tour. We listened the entire 17 hour drive there and home. We still listen to this day and it brought us closer together to have something to bond over. Thank you for your dedication to content and the truth.
  • Unsolved mystery lover

Playing cards that gives each victim’s case life!
I’m a true crime junkie and forever “fam club” member for anything with Audiochuck! Ashley and Brit tell the best stories ever! You can join their fam club and get bonus content, stickers, merch, even talk directly to them! Ashley does more than this show too and they are all awesome! If you love crime and mystery then all shows by these gals (or just Ashley and a couple others) are EXACTLY WHAT ANY CRIME JUNKIE NEEDS!! 💜🫶💜

    Binge worthy and addictive!
This is one of the best podcasts of all time. Great story telling while giving you the facts.

    Unethical
I got turned off when i felt the podcasters where dragging investigators and other potential suspects through the mud. They aren’t qualified to be investigating, and I felt they were slanderous and unethical to the lead prosecutor who obviously has no media training, is in a small town, and is now a target for the ire of crime junkies network and following.

    Good show
It’s a good podcast but seems to be a take on the Dealing Justice podcast. Just to give credit where credit is due. Did we not learn anything after the plagiarism scandal?

    Perfection
The best podcast I’ve found in a long time

It makes you want to hear more
I have listened to other podcasts, but of all of them, this one makes me want to hear more, the perspective is very clear and very detailed, drawing a mental picture of the scene for you

    Awesome podcast
Great investigative podcast with lots of detail and suspense. A+ for everyone involved!

    Not a fan
I have listened to other true crime podcasts, including Crime Junkies, but I found this “investigation” problematic. These are podcasters who, other than Emily, I don’t believe actually have training as journalists. I understand that they have the blessing of the family to look into this case, but it seems like true journalistic ethics would bar you from publicizing the names of “suspects” without further proof. I do think there is a benefit to podcasters looking into cold cases, especially when they have the audience of these podcasters, but it seems there is a more ethical way to go about it.

    The singing commercial is torture
The podcasts story is amazing, but the sound mixing could use work. Podcast is good volume, interviews are quiet. Also the commercial with loud opera singing over and over again will drive you mad. Please just pick any other ad for the podcast.

    Amazing show
    Very well researched. Excellent reporting

    Darlene’s Daughters
These girls are so amazing. I know she is always watching them with pride. Very in depth reporting. The background music at times was too loud. The DA and the Police have a lot to answer to and we expect something to be done. The cases are not piled up No excuse at all.

Yes, sounds like a grade school child

    Phenomenal Investigative Journalism!!
Wow wow wow!! Nail biting series that left me wanting more with each episode!! I am prayerful there will be yet more updates and proper answers for the family! Thank you for all the hard work!! As a new podcast listener I’m soOo enthralled with this channel that I don’t even turn my tv on anymore!! A MUST for all who care about justice and investigative true crimes!!

    Nelson is frustrating
Excellent podcast! It makes me wonder why Nelson is so resistant to testing any of the DNA. Hopefully he retires in 2024 or whatever he plans on doing. As long as he’s no longer in charge of the case. I love Ashley Flowers and they do great work. I’ll be tuning in to see if they solve this case. Petition signed!
  • BSafeNotSorry
    Wow
Again wow! I have listened to Ashley cover a lot of, for lack of a better word, “stories” and I must say, if anything ever happens in my world I’m contacting her for sure!!! As for the ladies that were left reeling after having witnessed what they have being so incredibly humble and kind, well done ladies!! My heart goes out to you!!

    Great story
I loved how well this was reviewed on.

    You Girls are AMAZING
I’ve recently gotten myself into podcasts and I am completely obsessed with all things true crime. Thank you for all that you do for victims and their families.
  • Regmeyet
    Great!
Such a great deep dive into Darlene‘s case. Also, so absolutely frustrating! This case should have and could have been solved. I really do believe you all are extremely close to solving this one and I pray for their family.

Ok amazing podcast, but the police work
I love this podcast, I’ve listened to each episode at least 2 times. But I honestly feel bad for the hate Nelson is getting. See, I understand why the hate is happening, and it’s horrible what is happening to Darlene’s family, but I do dislike the podcast when they show Nelson’s responses in the emails in the newest episodes 1-3, I feel like it’s just about too much. But I do love this podcast.
  • KimH68
    Excellent! Must listen’
I saw Ashley in Chicago Feb 2023, and she read through this story. The story is even more captivating and details in the podcast version. I feel like Ashley and Emily are so so close. I pray they get the help they need to take it over the finish line for Darlene.

    Amazing Work
I listened to the first 14 episodes in 1 day. Listening now to the others. I believe that the investigation you have done will possibly solve this case and at the very least, propel law enforcement to actually do their job and find the man responsible for this terrible injustice.
  • live uncorked
    I love you two
I recommend audio chuck podcasts to everyone. I am a doggie lover too, Ashley and Britt are great storytellers. I just recommended Full Body Chills to my son. Keep up the great work and remember it’s never just a mannequin.
  • Samanthology1
    Phenomenal
Just like every audiochuck production, this was phenomenal and so investing. I will be following for updates, with the hopes that at some point Nelson will do the right thing, or at least step aside and let a new successor bring answers to the family with DNA testing
  • huntypunty11
    Great!!!!
As always I love every single thing audiochuck puts out! Ashley does such an amazing job telling a story. But I’m totally convinced Nelson is involved. Not to mention going to AG Todd Rokita was useless he’s useless. And I’m really shocked that the ISP refuses to act. Like y’all are willing to pay for testing y’all got a grant more prosecutors would jump on the opportunity. We need a new AG in Indiana.

    One of the best
This is one of the best podcasts I’ve heard in a long time. I cried during the last episode when they played the tapes of her voice talking to her little girls.
  • TildaJean
    Too short
Very short episodes for some reason.
  • Harleigh Beth
Captivating, yet also shined a very needed spotlight on this case!
This was amazingly put together and for the family’s sake, I hope there isn’t a season 2 as well. I have to say though, part of me feels so off put by the police officers involved in the investigation. It feels as though they are trying to cover things up. I really hope that isn’t the case and the family is able to finally get the answers they’ve been looking for ❤️

    The Deck Investigates
Excellent podcast (and deck of cards!) to bring awareness to cold cases. How do you get someone on a deck of cards? Maura Murray should definitely be on one !

  • Rusty Fan
    Great show👍😁
I heard you taking about this when I was listening to Crime Junkie. I love that show and this one as well. Keep up the great work you ladies are doing. You ladies rock👍👍😁
  • ltavor
    Loved it.
This is a great podcast. Ashley, you really deliver the story in a manner that keeps you wanting to hear more, in a hope that Darlene will get justice. I’ve listened to many a true crime podcast and some drag on and on, with information repeated just to drag it out longer. You guys don’t do that - short and sweet is perfect! May Darlene RIP and the person who did this is found.
  • mamakenzxo
    hooked off the rip .
i heard this advertised when i was catching up on older crime junkie episodes . i haven't been able to stop listening . there's so many twist and turns to this case . i think i have it figured out and then something insane is thrown in . love it !
  • Gjb8282

Please do more Deck Investigates. Every podcast that Audio Chuck puts out is gold. I can not get enough of Ashley and her team. I get sucked into everyone.

    Tugs at your heart strings
Such an amazing podcast. Not many podcasts bring me to tears but episode 15 made me bawl. Hearing her voice and how much she loves her children. Great investigation, I wish Chipman was more willing to help solve this case.
  • NicACarr
    Great Series
I am looking forward to the next one but I really enjoyed deep diving into a case like this!!
  • raynorshyn
    10 minute episodes?
The super short episodes was so irritating, I gave up listening.

    Fix episode 6
Episode 6 cuts off after only a few minutes. Please fix this.
  • EverUndine
Wonderful but I can't finish it
I love all your podcasts but I can't move past episode 6 on this one because it cuts off mid-sentence at three minutes 😢
