VmarkmanAffordable Interior DesignI love this podcast! It really motivated me to pursue my interests in design. I love lately how Betsy is interviewing hosts from other design podcasts, many of which I already follow, but has helped me add some more to my listening list.

Charli JaneSadly, no longer a fan.I use to be a big of Betsy and the podcast. Lately, I feel like she has blinders on when it comes to styles that don’t fit her own…or are no longer “trendy.” I was listening to her advise someone on flooring for their Victorian home and she really tried to persuade them into doing tile (which was fine), but what was off putting was her comment that if you don’t like tile to “get over it.” Also, when she did her podcast on things that are “out” or no longer trending, her despise for so many things was insulting. For those who may have shiplap on a wall feel scorned…or that they may need to rip it out ASAP, and replace it!! I feel like she should offer advice on how to work around the things that are too costly to replace. Waterfall countertops??? It’s ok!! Don’t change it if you love it and it makes you happy! I listen to a lot of amazing designers and what I am hearing from the majority of them is to do what makes you happy. If it FEELS good (and sentimental) when you walk into your home then you are doing something right!! Design is very personal.

EmeraldIsle23So helpful!I have recently discovered this podcast, and I am so pleased! Betsy has such a logical way she approaches design dilemmas. I love hearing her opinions!

MamaJen577Love this podcast!I love Betsy and her comfortable approach to her show. She’s so genuine and honest and funny. If the design dilemmas addressed during an episode don’t specifically apply to me or my home, I always learn something helpful. And the smack downs are always a hoot. I am usually a true crime listener but look forward to new episodes of Affordable Interior Design each week for some levity. It’s like talking design over coffee with a friend. Love this podcast so much I became a premium member! Definitely check it out.

givernotgifterAffordable Interior DesignI always learn something. Betsy is interesting, funny, but best of all, informative, and gives experienced advice, even if it is not following popular trend. She answers listeners questions as well as sharing her own decorating journey.

EmilyakLife-saver for real peopleThis podcast can teach anyone design, even non-artistic people like me! It’s packed full of practical information like where to buy what for the best value and how to easily give any room that “wow” factor. Betsy’s tips work for real people’s homes so you can love AND live in your space. This podcast is especially helpful for people who love cozy spaces that look gorgeous while serving a function, but not for those who want to look ‘expensive’ or change out their living room furniture every 2 years. Highly recommended!!

Sara in DCToo much self promotionHave listened to a few of these and will try a few more. Have heard a few good suggestions but there is a lot of pushing listeners toward her book and/or her classes and/or a paid membership for additional content. Understand she is doing this for a living but there are other design podcasters who take a different approach and I think I prefer those!

elizabethnebatBetsy keeps it real with inside trade info and so much more!I am seriously addicted to Betsy’s podcast! It popped up in my Spotify suggestions (I listened to Ballard Design’s which is why it probably suggested her podcast). Anyway, Ballard’s is in the review mirror (Boring hosts and content). I listened to five episodes of Betsy and I’m a total junkie!! I have gone back to the very beginning from years ago and listen to each one in sequence throughout my day (pausing it when I’m in the shower, or going to bed). I listen in the car, while I’m cooking and cleaning, and I even watch her YouTube videos while exercising in my basement! She’s awesome!!! The Notes section on my phone is chock full of her pearls of wisdom - everything from which retailers have gold and which have crap, rug heights depending on their use - I could go on and on! She always provides advice to help us (even if it’s not her fav mid century) and she makes me laugh while doing it. I will be sending her “delicious” questions once we receive our focal point (which is being made) for our grown up home bar! PS - I have spread the word and she’s being listened to from Rhode Island to Scotland! 😍
-
ImAFanNo2fun and informative podcast for interior design adviceBetsy is fun to listen to and is really good at describing interior design situations to us listeners who can’t see a photo from a viewer who has a question...can’t wait to have her answer my own questions on my own house soon, fingers crossed!

DQ MeechI Can’t Stop Listening...You GO, Betsy!Betsy worked so hard, from the very beginning, to build an amazing business, with the purpose of changing lives. She is kind, endearingly candid, eloquent, approachable & extremely knowledgeable...Oh, did I mention entertaining? You can hear the happiness and excitement in her voice, in sharing her craft & helping others. I even had the pleasure of speaking with her, on the phone, once. I am so very grateful, to her and her team, for all that they do! A true inspiration.

chubtastic roundlyPracticalI love Betsys book and truly learned a lot from it. Definitely the most budget friendly with a practical approach. The podcast though feels more like a diary and I find myself not wanting to hear about how she’s coping with this or that. Also she does answer listener questions but the advice seems a bit vague. I think ultimately the podcast is designed to encourage you to purchase a design package.
-
littlegswifeInspiringI love Betsy! She is inspiring, creative, and gives truly helpful information for the laywoman interior designer. I’m moving into my first purchased home and this podcast has relieved a lot of anxiety around it. Love it.

Hopelessly VintageAffordable Interior DesignI’ve only recently discovered Betsy’s podcast and am excited to listen to one every day on my daily walks. As a fellow interior designer I appreciate her no nonsense aesthetic and value. She dispenses great decorating advice along with her own personal stories. I subscribe to several design podcasts and Betsy’s is the first one I listen to. You won’t be disappointed!

weluvkrdSo helpful! And fun. 😄I have learned so much listening to Betsy Helmuth on this AID podcast. First, her presentation makes me happy - just a super positive outlook! At the same time, Betsy is an encyclopedia of design info & explains/beautifully teaches us why she thinks the way she does. Could listen all day! 😆

River's GrandmaEverything A-Z!I am a huge fan of this podcast! I recently became a premium member so I can devour even more content! I’ve always enjoyed decorating and have been saving magazine photos since I was a teenager! I’ve lived in 8 different houses over the years and I’m in a (new to me) 2- story 100 year old English Tutor. I’m so excited to put Betsy’s rules into this endeavor!! I’ve ordered Betsy’s book and I’m waiting for it to arrive. I’m so thankful to have found Betsy and her decorating design wealth of knowledge. I would highly recommend this podcast if you always wanted to know the insider’s secrets to making your home the best it could be and the pride that comes from doing it rig

starsnailzPleasant Tidbits of Advice!I love listening to Betsy! When she talks to listeners and answering emails, it feels like she is speaking with friends. I also appreciate the shorter length (~25 mins), which gives a bite sized piece of design conversation.

emmastevensOodles of ContentBetsy is one of the most generous interior designers out there. She gives so much advice and has tons of creative ideas to answer our design questions. She has firm opinions (“no faux! no accent wall!”), while managing to reply to us in the most supportive ways. She’s helping the world to see that the practice of interior design can indeed span a wide range of budgets, and we are forever grateful for her pioneering approach to this field.
-

Dancergirl55555Great easy listenI love this podcast. I binged listened and I feel like it really taught me some basics of interior design, such as keeping furniture away from a doorway, windows being dressed with drapes and the ratio of colors. Betsy is clearly very knowledgeable in her filed. Kudos to her for educating all of us 🎉

MPPCPWPolitics, ugh. Another one doneAlways enjoyed until the swooning over Cuomo. That’s a huge political statement and a huge disappointment. Don’t want to know what Betsy thinks of politics.
-
remygirlBookBetsy’s book has so many valuable tips too.

juchcinskimSo many great ideasI’m always impressed that a podcast about a topic that is thought to be so visual can be so helpful! Plenty of wonderful tips and tricks in a clear easy to understand format.

brainbellUpbeat host, easy to follow adviceThis podcast is great for a beginner like me. I also really appreciate Betsy’s positive attitude.
-
ZacharyCornettDecisive! One of my pet peeves is when design shows only give general advice. Betsy is decisive, specific, knows what she likes, and isn’t afraid to tel you about it. I love it! It’s the strong guidance I need!
-
just.beth.Great for beginners! If you appreciate beautifully designed spaces and wish to learn tips and tricks on how make a successful plan to create your own, this podcast is a great thing to listen to on the go. A grab bag of questions and clear opinions from Betsy.

lea anne moriGood design is not about following rules.Just listened to this podcast for the first time and was immediately turned off by its rather restrictive views on design under the guise of “sophistication”. While the host seems knowledgeable and bubbly, touting hard and fast rules like “no accent walls” and “you can never successfully execute an industrial-glam” look doesn’t leave much room for artistic exploration. When done well, these elements can look stunning in a home. Some of the most influential designers in the world do this very thing. I understand that this podcast may be for everyday people who feel overwhelmed by design processes in general and find strict rules helpful. That’s fine, but it seems like actual style is being compromised here. If your goal is to create a pristinely staged, cookie cutter house, this podcast might be for you. Folks who desire a home with soul- one that is deeply personal and design-forward, you should skip this one.
