One of THE most entertaining podcasts out there!!!
I discovered The Castle Of Horror podcast about a year or so ago. It very quickly became part of my driving habit. Every morning and afternoon on the way to and from work is what’s playing in my vehicle. Always entertaining, enjoyable and often funny. Keep up the great work guys!!! Bring on more Universal Horror and some 50’s schlock!!! Update. I still love the Podcast, content and crew however what I find annoying is how the ads break into the episodes when someone is in mid sentence while speaking and how the volume of the ads sometimes jumps wildly loud blowing out my eardrums when wearing EarPods.

    Mostly Great
I really like this podcast and the movies it covers. Listening from the start, I just wish the token female didn't talk over everyone. Hopefully gets better as the podcast matures. And it is like listening to an issue of Famous Monsters

Amazing podcast! Buckets of bloody horror fun.
    Could not enjoy this more.

This used to be an awesome podcast…
I started listening to this podcast years ago. To use a word that Jason would appreciate, I’d say it used to be delightful. However, now, ads spontaneously pop up and the sound quality isn’t always the best. I know everyone is busy and they put out a lot of content. But, as someone who used to really enjoy this podcast and the hosts (my favorite episode is still The Curse of Frankenstein), maybe try putting out less content and just focus on the quality of each episode. The episode on The Last Voyage of the Demeter is really poor quality at the beginning of the episode. I actually rebooted my app because I thought it was an app issue. Guys, I know from listening experience that you are better than this.

    Excellent Podcast!!!
Very well done podcast consisting of writers, artists, musicians, and attorneys offering interesting and entertaining commentary on horror and monster films. What sets this apart is that there is a perfect blend of entertainment, information and sociological commentary. Want an informed opinion of the sociology and gender politics of King Kong 1976? You've come to the right place. Their Kong series is excellent, the Shape of Water episode blew me away. Jason, Julie, Drew, Jamie, and Tony are a great team. They don't shout over each other (well, not too much), and they bring a nice analysis, with some "making of" research and sociological/historical context, just excellent. I think Jamie and Julia are especially valuable and would like to hear more of them. I'm a monster and kaiju fan, so not all of the horror films appeal to me directly, but I have a feeling I will be inspired to broaden my horizons a bit. Can't recommend this show enough. Carry on the good work and cheers!!
  • It's alright; I'm a doctor.
    Ads blew my eardrums
Nice people, but the podcast sounds unplanned, and the ads are as obnoxious as I’ve ever heard, so this one’s unlistenable for me.

    Informative and fun
    Love this podcast!

    Political ads what???
My first listen to this podcast, the first commercial was for Greg Abbott. Stop. Nope. I don’t care. Screen your content. If you’re ok with it, I’m not. Moving on.

    Pretty Good
This is a good crew (although Julia seems to be doing this out of marital obligation lol), but the audio is very poor. Some on the panel are loud and clear, but Jason drops in and out constantly. It’s like listening to an AM radio signal from another state. If that’s the effect they’re going for, we’ll done!

    Such fun
So sorry I hadn’t offered a review before now. Very fun episode (Jaws the Revenge)! Been listening for a year and a half… I appreciate the Castle Talk interviews greatly, even though I have no connection to publishing. Always feel like I’m learning. As a Minneapolitan, I also appreciate the intro to Monster Movie Happy Hour! Thank You.

    Thanks so much
I don’t listen to every episode of this podcast. I’m not always interested in some of the authors or books covered. Bear with me here for a moment. While I might not always listen, I always smile when I see each new episode posted. Interviews with writers and creators speaking about art and enterprise I’ve never heard of. That’s awesome. I know of no other podcast where such a variety of topics are discussed in such measured and intelligent conversations. So thank you - for the shows I listen to and those I don’t. Above all else, this podcast serves up welcome reminders that there are so many talented and creative people out there telling stories and offering images. Again. Thank you.

    Had Promise, Rife with Errors
Was very excited when I found this show, most the participants seem very friendly, make for nice conversation. But after about a dozen episodes, it’s revealed itself to be full of errors on the various films they talk about, like they scanned Wikipedia or IMDb for their “factual” talking points. The “token female” (the show runner’s wife who doesn’t care for genre films) is also asked to discuss female issues, but shows an ignorance in that regard too. On multiple episodes she claims with authority that women were “knocked out” in childbirth into the late 1960s, into the late 1970s. This is patently untrue, “twilight sleep” was done away with by those eras, and the mother was very much a part of the birth. (Granted, an occasional doctor may have used it, but it was not de rigueur as their “expert” claims). Same for the guy who kept calling the occult wave of films of the ‘60s/‘70s “Satanic Panic” films. I did a “slow burn” every time I heard this guy throw that buzz phrase around about these “elevated” horror films under discussion. They were films that trafficked in popular interest is occultism, not reactionary “Satanic Panic” that would raise its stupid head in the conservative 1980s where that term actually applies. These are just some examples of why the show is so frustrating. Nice people, but if you don’t truly know of the things you speak, it’s just a bunch of chatter.

    Really interesting stuff!
Just started listening and it was great to hear from different creators about their experiences and the things they are working on!

    So much fun
Jason and his co-hosts are so entertaining and insightful when it comes to dishing details and opinions on horror cinema. I subscribe to about a dozen horror movie podcasts, and this one is one of the very best. Lots of laughs (especially thanks to Tony), and Drew is well-versed in horror history. Highly highly recommended.

Great show with insightful and entertaining opinions on all the movies you love!!!

    Hellraiser 1987
Hello all. Hellraiser was definitely a game changer in the horror genre as it was in the late 80s. Clive Barker’s unique takes are interesting. Well done for a first time director.

    A Horror Fan Must Listen
Great insight into the movies they are reviewing. Intelligent, usually well thought out critiques. It makes me want to watch more of the movies they do that I haven’t seen just to listen to the review of it. All of the reviewers are engaging and charismatic. I highly recommend Castle Horror to any casual or hardcore fans of the genre.

    Great frights presented with charm
This podcast has quickly become one of my go to listens. Even if it's about a movie or special that I may not have cared for the cast here always makes the episodes enjoyable. Three cheers Castle of Horrors 🤘

Like hanging out with old friends!
The vibe from this podcast is overwhelmingly positive and good-natured, and whenever I listen to the gang talking about a horror movie I feel like I am in the company of good friends. Keep’em coming!

Great Podcast for Avid Horror Fans!
Any where better the classics and now, Castle of Horror is a podcast that critically covers anything horror (or anything that is just awesome). The reviews are often balanced with positives and negatives, with a sumation of the plot for those who wish to listen to the reviews without watching the subject movie. Of course, watching along with the crew is half the fun!

One of my absolute favorites; love the content, the banter, and the repore you all have with each other - thank you so much!

So amazing! Like having my high school friends in my back pocket!
So in love with this podcast!! I have had many sleepless nights staying up all hours listening. It brings back so many memories of sitting around with my horror movie friends and obsessively talking about them over innumerable cans of Mountain Dew and thousands of cigarettes! (Hey it was the 80's!) A couple of requests for future episodes: A retrospective of the Hellraiser franchise and also a retrospective of The Blair Witch Project (especially since 2014 is the 15 year anniversary!) Love y'all keep up the great work! I can sleep when I am DEAD. :-)

    One Of The Best!
I listen obsessively to a lot of the audio horror podcasts. This is DEFINITELY one of the best ones. The commentary is interesting, and I really like that you get several people's perspectives as they interact with one another throughout each podcast. The movies are covered well without being redundant or boring. If you like horror movies, check this podcast out. It's better than 95% of the ones I've listened to.

    Really enjoyable
Just discovered this a couple of days ago. I'm really enjoying this. I like the fact that nobody has a career in movies or is a professional critic. It's just regular people talking about something they are passionate about. Nice work.

    House of the Devil
This movie is an absolute favorite of mine and this episode could have gone on even longer just talking about all the 80s love went into the production design. I adore how this film never winks and could be right next to the original Halloween on any video store shelf. If Laurie Strode showed up on campus next to Samantha it would be no surprise. So glad you covered it! Well done you guys!

Smart conversation by people who love the genre
For fans of horror movies, this is a can't-miss podcast. These are smart people who love and have studied the genre – they know their stuff! These freewheeling conversations are conducted with cultural insight and a great sense of humor; the listener wishes he knew these guys could hang out with them, talking about all manner of spooky movies. There's a great emphasis here on the classics, and you can learn a lot from practically every one of these episodes. Excellent, excellent stuff.

    Great insight by horror writers
Castle Dracula, in addition to giving you fascinating tidbits on the films themselves, also provides incisive commentary by a trio of writers of YA and graphic novel horror. These guys have real love for the films they examine, and they make revisiting even the cheesiest horror flick a real treat. Also fantastic is the inclusion of a fourth POV from Julia Guzman, whose outside perspective on the goings-on is a delight. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
  • Tristan734
    Fantastic!!!
Finally, a podcast about horror movies by real horror fans. I loved "Fright Night (1985) and "Trick r' Treat" too. Keep up the great work.
  • Goodgirl329
    yay
Just found you guys, so excited to find a podcast with smart people talking about horror .
  • Mike Farley
    Bloody good podcast!
The Castle Dracula Podcast is my Favorite New Thing. One of the best things about a Dracula/vampire focused podcast is that the genre covers virtually the entire history of film from silent greats to the latest 3D extranvaganza and from big budget A-listers like Coppola's Dracula to schlocky straight to video b-movies. I look forward to many more podcasts.
