    Cozy, captivating podcast!
I don’t remember how I stumbled upon this lovely podcast, but it’s quickly become one of my favorites. It’s like a virtual book club, without having to read the book! The hosts are down to earth and warm and I love hearing their takes on the many compelling stories they cover. A charming gem of a podcast!

    Super Likeable hosts
The hosts are so like able and pleasant to listen to. There’s no annoying forced banter or inside jokes like a lot of podcasts do now. And I love how impassioned they get, even if it’s a biography about someone they previously didn’t care about. I find myself trying to imitate them when I’m describing a book now :D

    Fascinating!
Whether a famous person I don’t know or an old familiar friend, this show makes me feel like I’ve lived through significant parts of their lives. Dolly Parson and Fred Astaire sang and danced before my eyes.

    Entertaining and Informative
Always a good listen regardless of who the subject is. The two hosts really work well together and it’s fun to hear every episode. I always learn a lot, too; bonus!

    Weekly Must Listen
I look forward to Cleo & Richard’s THRIFT SHOP BIOGRAPHY every week. Their banter and interpretations open my eyes and usually change any unfavourable judgments that I’ve made about their subjects. I especially enjoy it when either of them reveal that his or her own opinions have changed because of what they’ve read. I’m personally not a fan of reading bios or autobios, thus I appreciate their reviews and comments, and admittedly, there might be a book or two in which I’m interested now. If I ever make it to Jeopardy, I hope there’s a Biography category ‘cause I will ace it thanks to Thrift Shop Biography. Really helps to pass the time while I’m at work, too. Well done, Cleo & Richard!

    Fred Astaire
Was doing a search on podcasts with Fred Astaire as the subject. I found this delightful, podcast talking about my favorite movie star. I’m so glad the way the female host, convinced the male host how wonderful Fred Astaire really is. It just shows that it doesn’t matter what generation you grew up in, all anyone hast to do is watch Fred Astaire dance to become a forever fan!

Interesting reversal of the usual dynamic
Woman defends abusive men while her male partner tries vainly to drag her back to reality

If you love biographies and you love podcasts, you have to listen to this
I am a huge fan of biographies and came across this podcast looking for audio books of biographies. Now after listening for the past month, I am a huge fan of this podcast too. I love that so many of the episodes are of individuals I would have never picked up the book to read about but the way the hosts summarize and retell their lives makes me want to run out and read more. The chemistry between the hosts is perfect, makes me feel like I am in the room with good friend for a fun and well thought book club. Keep up the great work. I’m telling everyone about you guys!

    Love Biographies
This was a very interesting pod cast! I have been reading biographies since I was a young child. I think I read every biography in our elementary school library. And continue reading them today. I knew who Vivienne Westwood was only because my daughter wore the uniform she designed for Virgin Atlantic flight crew. They were the best dressed flight crews in the terminal. I had no idea how influential she was in the world of music and punk fashion. This book as presented by the hosts really gave the essence of Miss Woodward as a person with views from her grown sons included. She was also passionate about ecology and backed it up with speaking engagements and financial contributions. PS I am an American and have lived here my entire life. I had absolutely no difficulty understanding the hosts of the program.

    Really enjoy it!
I love biographies and listening to these two podcasters break one down each episode is very entertaining. I love their insights and think they have a very good rapport.

    Tried to like
But this American can’t understand most of what the woman is saying. Perhaps a better mic and slower speech?
