Making The Leap

136

Making The Leap is a weekly podcast hosted by Christine and Chris Stigall. The Stigalls recently made the leap to Christian education, pulling their daughter out of a public school and sending her to a private Christian school. The Stigalls want to empower other families to choose the school that’s best for them and break free from the status quo. They speak with society experts, educators, legislators, psychologists, and other parents to uncover the hidden truths in education and lay the groundwork for change.

    A must
The blessing to go through the exact same thing at the exact same time is not lost in me. It’s nice to know that people are going through the same things as we are is immeasurable. Making the Leap helps making the leap to private Christian education.

    We are making the LEAP!
My colleague and I will be leaving public school to start a Classical Christian school in a couple years and we knew when God helped us discover the Herzog Foundation and subsequently Making the Leap podcast that it would help but we didn’t realize what great information and insight we would gain. We thought it was such a God thing that we had named our future school LEAP Academy and then we found a podcast called Making the Leap. This was no accident we know! Thank you for always taking a stand for what is true and good and beautiful! I am so blessed by both of you, Christine and Chris! Keep doing what God has called you to do! You are making a difference!!

    Empowering podcast for parents
I’ve been listening to Chris for years on his radio station and podcasts. Now the addition of his wife Christine in a podcast that hits so close to home. This has given my wife and the tools we need to stand up for our daughters education. Thank you Chris and Christine.

    Encouraging and inspiring!
This podcast is a breathe of fresh air. It is so encouraging to hear about how God is working in private education around the country. Keep up the good work!

    Thank you for the encouragement!
After listening to this podcast and reading some books on the topic we decided we are going to start making the Leap next year. It has been exceedingly helpful to know more about our options.

    Plug-N-Play options can stifle us
Thank you for opening our eyes to the options out there! Our public school system is engrained in our culture and often times we don’t know or understand that there are options out there. Advocating and sticking up for our children should be our number one priority!

    Personal
Eye-opening and personal take on education. We moved one of our children to a Christian school 3 years ago and the other two moved a year ago. The best money we’ve ever spent. After listening to this podcast, I felt like I wasn’t alone in my public school concerns. I appreciate the variety of guests and the scope of views on schooling our kids. I recommend this to parents who are on the fence or want to feel confident to make a change.

Making The Leap episode 19 with Anna
I throughly enjoyed listening to your latest episode featuring your daughter Anna! As a retired public school teacher, I am always interested in hearing and learning about other methods of education. Anna did a great job in telling about her experience going from public school to Christian Education. She was very poised and honest in her interview and I loved hearing her tell about the ways in which she has already grown and matured in her relationship with the Lord. You must be very proud of her! Keep up the fantastic work you do on Making the Leap podcast! Valerie

    Podcast with Anna
I’ve never written a review for a podcast before but I just finished listening to your podcast with Anna. What a strong, well-spoken, mature young woman you are raising. Congratulations to you both!

    Interesting discussions
Even though I am childless, I am learning a lot from the discussions & guests interviewed! It’s very concerning to me what public schools are exposing our youth to! Teach them what we learned: Reading, Writing & Math! We are always stating how we need to be concerned about China: well their students will be far more better educated than American students who are being subjected to insanity going forward! Plus love of God & country being intertwined with all the basics is never gonna be a bad thing! Thanks much for the service you are providing for parents, teachers & kids!

    From the Start
Have listened to each podcast since launch, and continue to feel less alone and more empowered after the difficult decision we made last year to leave public school. Keep on!

No other podcast out there, like this.
I love the conversations that are happening on this podcast. As someone that has, Made the Leap, I am so grateful this is out there now for families. Praying that everyone truly listens and takes what God wants them to from this. Thank you for being obedient and spreading the word about the fact that parents have options!

    NAIS
Love podcast! Generations of my family are Catholic school alums. I suggest you review NAIS and how it is corrupting the most elite private schools both religious and secular.

    So many options
We made the decision 4 years ago to make the leap and our family is so much stronger for it. We are passionate about sharing our journey to Christian education and love that you are too. Thank you for lending your voices to educate listeners about the options that are out there and the importance of learning within a biblical worldview.

    Who knew?
So glad they are doing the research about this and making information available.

    Very informative!
This is a great podcast about religious education. Personally I believe that parents should be responsible for all their childrens education. This one payer public education system that we pay for our entire life can’t compare to a good Christian education. I am a product of 12 years of Catholic education and wouldn’t have had any other way for our daughter. I believe that the education is far superior to any public school education. Thank you for taking us through your decision process to make the switch. You will not regret your decision.

    The voices of many!
Chris and Christine speak the words my husband and I have shared for years. It’s refreshing to hear it from others, so validating. We wish we had moved our kids to a Christian education and would absolutely do things differently, if we had it to do all over again. Thankful for the insight of this couple and for their voice, on behalf of so many of us.

    Great podcast!
We have such a similar story. After homeschooling wasn't possible anymore we had a very disturbing few years in the public schools. Now off to private Christian for the youngest for high school. This podcast has been very helpful!

    Truth!!
My husband and I grew up in the public school & my mom was a public school teacher. We have been involved in Kingdom Education for 18 years with our children, and would never go back and do it different. Thank you for bringing truth and light to this controversial issue!!

    Been there done that
Chris and Christine. I attended a Christian school in the early development of Christian education. I graduated from a school in 1976 as one of two in the first graduating class. All of my children graduated from Christian school, and now three of my grandchildren are attending Christian school. I believe wholeheartedly in the value of Christian education, not just as a student or a parent but also as a teacher in a Christian environment for 18 years. Keep in mind that Christian school is not heaven on earth, but it is a place where teachers teach their subjects from a biblical worldview. One of the many goals in Christian education is supporting the parents by reinforcing the values of home. I loved teaching high school students all the aspects of literature, writing, grammar, and a strong vocabulary and having the ability to talk about the Lord, applying biblical truth and biblical principles in every aspect of study. As an aside, many of my students, who were barely making it in my English classes, went on to college and aced their English classes within the first two years in general studies. So many came back to thank me. Several have even thanked me for teaching them to diagram! Imagine that. I’m sharing your podcast with the administrator of our Christian school and many others.

    I'm right there with ya
This is everything we have been experiencing as believers and parents of young girls in public school. We have been feeling and seeing the same issues and making decisions about what is best for their mental, spiritual health and ultimately their futures. Thanks for doing this.

    The worst
This podcast did not offer a true education on options that are out there for families. I feel it is important to look at differing opinions, but when information is presented that isn’t fact checked, then one must understand they should dig deeper and find more reputable sources. My child is in a private school and I am grateful that it offers so much more of exploration and a love of learning than what these podcasters discuss. The presenters appear beyond lazy and biased.

    Our Leap!!
My husband and I are products of public school and little did we know that we would move in next door to neighbors who sent their kids to private Christian school. I asked her 3 different times why do you spend the money on an education because we have highly rated public schools and she said “ There is just something I can’t explain you just have to experience it to find out” and so we made the leap to start my child in Kindergarten at Northland Christian School and she has been there 6 years. All because of God providing us a house next to neighbors who would unknowingly would guide us to Christian education and we are ever so grateful. I truly believe that God provides in so many ways.

    Thank you for doing this!

    Thank you!
This podcast has been encouraging. We are starting a new Christian school to open in the fall and can relate to everything the hosts and the guests have shared from not only the parent side but the education side. As I leave public education in a few weeks, I have faith that God will bring together the families, the staff, and the resources needed to equip our kids acaemically and spiritually in a Christian-centered environment. We look forward to learning more through the podcast and can't wait to see what God reveals next. Thank you!

    We Second That
God works in mysterious ways as this podcast comes at a great time for my wife and I. We are taking our kids educations in a different direction as well and are making radical sacrifices and risks to better serve them. We are excited to be working on our project as well as we commiserate, share similar circumstances, pray, and laugh with Christine and Chris. Totally stoked to hear more of your podcast. Congrats to you both.

    Hope you enjoy it!
Shameless plug and one of the first reviews to say we’re honored you gave us your time today and hope you’ll enjoy the shows. This is a particular work of passion for Christine - I’m so proud of her stepping out of her comfort zone to do this show. I’m tagging along for her ride here! God has blessed us to partner with the Herzog Foundation, share our story, and hopefully encourage parents who are exploring alternatives in their child’s education. You can do it, too. We’re proof!
