Ms. Runaway TrainKindred SpiritsI think I’ve found my kindred spirit in Jess.. like East Coast meets West Coast in the teaching world! I just came across this podcast and knew it was love at first listen! I seriously could’ve titled this myself as I’m constantly telling my inner circle not to mind me and my shenanigans because I’m the conductor of my own #hotmessexpress, then add in the teacher element, and BOOM, insert this podcast!!! Jess keeps it real, doesn’t sugar coat what the job is, and has become in the post-covid classroom, but still portrays her love of the job through humor and sad realities. Gearing up to start year 19 and digging deep to rally to just get into the classroom to set up, Jess reminds us that we’re not alone in the wild, crazy ride! THANK YOU!

christine lempinCLempinI wish I had this while active teaching . Jess is amazing as well as Vinnie ( he was super funny) and their banter was enjoyable! But I’m super glad that Jess will Continue while Vinnie is on to other ventures. Her content is spot on . I highly recommend this cast for all educators 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

ShortkLove this podcast!I have only recently found this podcast and I’ve totally binged it to catch up. I love listening and the banter reminds me of my husband (he’s British too!) and I when we talk about the differences in the US and the UK education system. Thank you for bringing quality discussions about teachers and education to the table. Love, Love, Love!

EmilyAALLove Jess!I have listened to several episodes, and I really enjoy listening to Jess. I’m unfollowing for the moment though. Only till Vinny is gone. He’s hilarious, but whines a little too much for my taste.

unhappy with purchase123Latest episodeI was a huge fan of the show. However, the latest episode is bothersome. Vinny comments how some TPT sellers who left the classroom are “exploiting” themselves by making money off teachers. That is harsh and ironic coming from someone who has made money off teachers on a podcast and comedy tour. I agree that fake staged classrooms is wrong, but what is wrong with teachers earning an income helping other teachers by providing them with resources that make their lives easier.

Domtron83Watchable but needs more interactionA conversation between two people just doesn’t seem as dynamic on the comedy front. However, all of the stories are very relatable if you are a teacher.

💜🖤🤍🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙I seriously love itThis show is so fun to listen to as a student because I learn how teachers feel, and I’ve only ever had one teacher who has been real with me. I love getting a look at a teacher’s point of view, and what they have to put up with.

Kohlerdancer23So true! The first episode I listened to was #5. As a second year teacher going into my third year this episode spoke to my soul. It is a relief to know that I am not alone in my feelings! I knew teacher burn out was a thing but I did not expect to feel it my second year in. Thank you for bringing this issue to light and letting other teachers know they are not alone!

LadyAltaDPerfect podcast for teachers!Teachers unite! The host, Jess Smith, wants teachers everywhere to know that they are not alone in the hot-mess-express known as teaching. In the first episode, "Hot Mess School of Education", Jess reflects on her path to teaching and some of the frustrations of the past year. She also comedically gives a lesson on how to perfect the "teacher-student staredown", the "art of the nod", "bladder control", "thriving through procrastination", "disguising the tired", and more. If you are a teacher and looking for a relatable podcast fueled by humor, give the "Hot Mess Teacher Express" Podcast a listen.
