I have listened to podcast for quite a while. It has helped me with my Spanish and it has been enjoyable. However this move to patreon only access to the transcript means you lose me as a listener. I can’t afford it even though it probably seems cheap to you. I am retired with a retirement income and it’s out of reach. I wish you well and I will miss your podcasts.

Very interesting stories and good technology To reinforce practice

I have followed Olly Richards off-and-on for almost seven years now, and I've purchased his story books for Spanish and Italian. Recently I've been systematically going through his podcasts from the beginning in my dead time when I cannot concentrate on Spanish language learning. I recently got to episode 363 on his "I will teach you a language" podcast, where he discusses James Clear's "Atomic Habits" book and the difference between goals and habits. Even though I've read that book and even though I've also been bullet journaling and maintaining daily Spanish practice for nearly two years, something about how Olly Richards reworded and examined James Clear's discussion of "falling to the level of your habits" struck me. Shortly after, I discovered this podcast, which is well produced and I like that it includes the text of the short discussions so that I can tune my ear to the Iberian pronunciation (I've been studying the Equatorial Spanish Latin American variety). The podcasts are short enough that I can go through three a day, which should have me caught up with the series by August. This podcast, if listened to systematically and incorporating other "rules of language learning" that Olly Richards and other polyglots and high-level language learners espouse, does help bridge the gap between intermediate material and native-level content. Thank you to the StoryLearning Spanish team for providing this material for free. I hope that it can be produced in other languages, especially Italian and Modern Standard Arabic, as these languages seem to be lacking in good lower intermediate story content. Keep up the great work. Cheers.

This podcast is fantastic! The chapters are short so it’s easy to practice daily. I use these podcasts as a supplemental to his Stories Uncovered for beginners. Also, the transcripts are an added bonus. It’s a great way to go back and check comprehension. And it’s all FREE!

Really enjoying the podcast and finally moving past beginner/intermediate level Spanish! I listen on my way to work and review the text and vocabulary later.

Easy, free way to daily progress in Spanish

I’ve read several of Olly’s books and thoroughly-enjoyed improving my Spanish with them, but this format is terrific! The audio is top-quality, the story is fun, and I’m completely engaged with the characters. The bite-sized chunks combined with a transcript and glossary is perfect: I typically go through 5-10 in a session, but some days I’ll only make time for 1 or 2, and that’s fine. No method will get results unless you stick with it, and this format is a great fit for me.

This podcast is a masterwork. For an intermediate Spanish learner it is hard to imagine a more valuable way to spend a few minutes every day.

A wonderful part of my daily Spanish routine

I have been studying Spanish x 6 months every day on my own. This podcast is perfect. I mostly understand without having to read the transcript, but having the transcript is really helpful to cross check your understanding. It is just hard enough to keep me learning, without feeling frustrated. I have been learning Spanish from Spain, so this is great. I’m so excited to have found this!!

I am using StoryLearning Spanish to supplement my spanish learning using Duolingo. Even though I am at the beginner level in Duolingo, I am following the protocol suggested in this podcast to listen twice (learning the 10 vocabulary words in between each listen) and then proceed to read the text. I find it getting easier to listen and pick up several words and the jist of the conversation as I move forward. The short time frame of these Chapters is perfect. I am so glad this this tool was recommended to me.

This podcast is the perfect level for intermediate students trying to improve their listening skills. Also, it’s interesting, fun, and relevant to the real world.

I have been studying Spanish for years but have been stuck at the intermediate level (maybe lower) in my ability to understand spoken Spanish. I am on the 7th chapter in this daily series, and I am feeling optimistic for the first time in a long time since I am already seeing improvement. I have tried a lot of other courses that have not helped. Now, I feel that I have one I can stick with.

I'm ecstatic that this podcast is now a thing. I've used their StoryLearning method before to learn German and am very pleased with the results - I regularly have 30 minute conversations in just German, and the StoryLearning method was my main resource. This new podcast is just the same. I can already notice the benefits. The story is engaging and fun. The speaker does a great job and speaks clear and naturally. And it works! I'm already getting more comfortable hearing and understanding Spanish.

Fun way to improve your Spanish listening skills. Great for intermediate learners.

Yes! Finally, a podcast that uses conversation and a story to help you improve your Spanish! This is exactly the level that I am right now. I have a decent Spanish vocabulary but most other teaching materials use ONLY THE PRESENT TENSE. This is not how people learn a language and it’s not how people communicate with each other. The short, story telling concept is perfect for keeping the student interested and challenged without being overwhelmed. Thank you for producing this podcast for the Spanish students of the world who are ready to take their Spanish to the next level! I am a healthcare professional and my ability to work with Spanish speaking patients is now improving daily!! Thank you!! 😊

Having so much Spanish in my head that does not come out of my mouth or get into my ears, I have become a huge believer in this teaching that listening to train the ears/reading to expand vocabulary is the way to go! But...it has taken Olly’s stories motivate me to listen and read! And to offer transcripts FREE, right on the podcast page is amazing. You are making study in a busy life so doable. Thank you!!

Listening to stories is great to improve vocab and liistening skills. So Helpful!. I love that the transcript is right there... you don't have to search for it on some other site. The episodes are short so you can fit them in during down time and they are exhausting trying to understand long segments. Thank You!

I've been studying Spanish for a couple of years now and needed to expand my vocabulary and comprehension of spoken Spanish. This podcast meets both of those needs perfectly! There is enough story that I pick up some words naturally, and then the narrator highlights other words that are a bit more difficult. I love the format: Story, Vocabulary, Story. And all in under 10 minutes. It really makes a difference. I've listened to all of the episodes so far and my Spanish has definately improved.

Loved the opportunity to see how much I could understand just listening the first time. The second time, reading along, helped link the correct pronunciation to the printed word. Thanks for a great experience.

This is a great concept! Learning Spanish through stories... exactly like we learned our native tongues. My mother used to read me stories all the time and now I'm an avid reader. I have learned so much through books and I am so anxious to learn Spanish with these stories. So glad I stumbled across this!

I love the format of the podcast. It’s simple and to the point, it gives you a decent amount of (practical) Spanish, and the English explanation is short and sweet, just enough for you to fill in the blanks of the conversation you just heard. I would love to hear a similar podcast in French, Japanese, and Korean!

My daughter and I have been looking for a natural way to learn Spanish. Being a classical educator, I heartily agree that acquiring language is most natural and comprehensive through storytelling.
