Fantastic podcast in which 2 Canadian cinephiles detail the latest blu releases from boutique to major labels. Their excitement is infectious and they make me want to throw away all of my money on physical media.

The host are very knowledgeable about physical media, and are quite charming to listen to.

These guys are great! I always hear about new and old movies I’d never heard of and even when they’re discussing a movie I’ll never watch it’s always a hoot to hear them talk about it.

There are so many physical releases these days and it’s impossible to keep up with everything. Thankfully, this podcast provides a handy rundown of all the cool stuff that comes out. The hosts’ energy, excitement, and knowledge of all kinds of movies makes even the stuff that I know I would never buy in a million years sound like it’s worth picking up. This show is a highlight of my week for sure.

They ask so nicely every week! I love listening to this show to catch up on what’s coming out, find out about some cool movies I wouldn’t have heard about otherwise, and enjoying the banter between Justin and Mark. Listen to this if you love owning movies!

Despite the ugly name and generic art, Bay Street Video podcast is a great podcast made by and for physical media movie lovers. This isn’t a podcast about Blu-ray collectors that blind buy random things that will probably never be watched or taken off the shrink wrap but for movie lovers who watch and adore the physical releases of movies they love or at least watch. Hosts and Mark and Justin scan a weekly release of Blu-rays and 4Ks and discuss why they recommend or caution certain titles. It is done with the seriousness of a movie collector that wants the best edition of the film and with humor that suggests that they enjoy movies of various genres and eras. All this is done without sponsors or Hollywood support, on the hosts’ own dime, so you know that their opinions are not brought or too generous.

Bay Street Video Podcast has become the only physical media podcast I listen to anymore with consistency, with regularity. I don’t even live in Canada, but I look forward to every new episode not only to hear what new releases are recommended and which ones I should save money if not outright avoid, but I particularly anticipate new episodes because of hosts Justin Decloux and Mark Hanson. Just like Decloux’s other podcasts, Decloux is one of my favorite commentators on any subject, especially physical media, and like with his co-hosts on his aforementioned other podcasts, Hanson has such a friendly, good-natures repartee, that the hosts have become the main feature of this podcast. Love this program so much.

The only thing I love more than buying DVDs is hearing Justin and Mark talk about DVDs. I love yelling at the hosts as I’m listening! MARK, WATCH HIGHLANDER. JUSTIN, PRINCE OF EGYPT IS A CLASSIC.

I’ve bought dozens of discs due to this podcast. Just ask the copy of Abraxas on my coffee table!

It’s always nice to hear Justin and Mark talk about the notable Blu-Rays. Their discussions are hilarious and informative and have even turned me to get some of the products they talked about on the show, even if I have never heard of the film. It is also a great way to find out about releases of films that I have wanted to own. Overall a very entertaining and informative podcast that everyone who is interested in collecting Blu-Rays should listen to!

I can’t believe how much this movie costs

Honestly this is the best podcast to listen to if you collect physical media. I’ve bought lots of stuff on their recommendation and it never disappoints.

A fantastic podcast that covers the less covered releases. What’s nice is that they also give their honest opinion if you should buy a title or not.

Is this low-key the best film physical media podcast? It’s nice to hear a light but knowledgeable discussion of new releases with a healthy amount of (friendly) credulity alongside the cheerleading, especially in this moment of endless manufactured FOMO and constant price creep when it comes to physical media collecting.

Do we really need Mark telling us who the terrible people are? No, we do not.

Mark and Justin discuss new blu ray releases and it's usually rather entertaining. I'm becoming elderly so I like buying physical media and this helps blow through my retirement funds slightly slower than I normally would. Their breakdowns of the various late-era Bruce Willis films (aptly called "Willis Watch") should be required content for any college film course that covers the history of Bruce Willis, a class that I have to assume exists somewhere.

Your must hear trip to the video store! It’s like Coming Attractions, but with commentaries. Find your new favorite release from these two lovable scamps.

Getting back into physical media and this is the best pod I’ve found to keep me up to date on releases. Introduced me to some rad labels and I love the insights into film. Never stop!

I started listening out of curiosity for the Important Cinema Club - Extended Universe - but stayed because it started enriching my love for film.

I don’t collect blu-rays but I do collectively hear Justin in my ears multiple times a week. Can’t recommend this enough. Really appreciate hearing some of the inside baseball regarding the goings on of actually getting these things onto a shelf and how the sell.

These two are so much fun to listen to! Even as someone who doesn’t get a chance to watch much at the moment, I really enjoy listening to these two talk about the craft. Recommend for serious cinephiles and those who wish they were!

Honestly one of the podcasts that I most look forward to each week. I’m more of a casual DVD/BluRay collector, but BSVP is totally entertaining just as a movie fan. The collective knowledge, enthusiasm, & friendship shared between Justin & Mark is great to spend time with. It has brought all kinds of movies to my attention. It’s fun to go through the archive, because unlike a lot of current events podcasts, the “new releases” are still largely available so the episodes don’t get old. The only thing that bums me out is that I don’t live near the Bay Street Video store. That place seems rad.

If you want to feel some of the excitement of going to a video store listen to this. There are still video stores going this is about Bay Street Video in Toronto. I hope to visit someday. You hear all of the new releases and good commentary on them. The hosts are very knowledgeable and very funny. Good conversation for fans of old films, new films, cult films and blue films.
