Maci Jo LeeWisdom nuggets to carry in and out of waterAbsolutely love the breadth of which the hosts and the guests take us. You’ll hear epic tales of adventure in and out of the water, environmental activism, the growth of food, the gift of children, and the importance of play. All from the lense of loving water, Lauren and Dave bring us stories that wake the mind in all aspects of life.

blaisecannonTruly thoughtful listenThe airwaves are now filled with all kinds of surfing and/or environmental podcasts, but most are formulaic and/or superficial. Water People brings together wonderful guests from a variety of ocean-affiliated ways of life for some truly thoughtful conversations. It’s one of the few pods where I enjoy listening to guests that I don’t already know. Most of all, the interview chemistry between Lauren and Dave is wonderful and their styles compliment each other very well. Highly recommend for anyone interested in the ocean, conservation, exploration, in addition to surfing.

brendonjholmesA connection to “my people”This podcast nourishes and cleanses just like water, and it has become a staple in my listening cycle. When an episode comes up on my feed, I know it’s going to be thought provoking and curated for the community of water lovers.

knovoselThis podcast gets below the surface and goes beyond surfing.I love the deep conversations between Lauren, Dave, and their guests. The Derek Hynd, Thomas Campbell, and Alby Falzon episodes were particularly interesting. I'd love to hear a chat with Greenough :)

jay•geeKeeps me closer to the oceanDeep dives with those who share the incessant pull to a life based on the wind, tide, weather, and swells. Gets me through flat spells, landlocked business trips, and moments when there is no one near who shares the stoke. Mature when it needs to be, always entertaining, makes me feel a bit smarter after each episode.

3PCP“We are all Water People”The above is an incredibly apt quote from one of the hosts. I believe most of us are here looking for education, entertainment, and, above all, a sense of connectedness. The Water People podcast provides those things better than any other podcast via their in-depth examination of topics and guests that aren’t always necessarily trending, but always should be.

sydneypt5 stars ⭐️Love hearing from so many interesting and inspiring people with strong relationships to the water. Beautiful show! 🌊💙

Best Podcast Hands Down!Water Stories for the Water and Non-water PeopleHands down one of the best podcasts that I listen to! Honestly, I would listen to it everyday if they posted that much. Authentic, approachable, and thoughtful content. I learned of the podcast a few years ago, and I look forward to every episode. Lauren’s voice is so soothing too! The both of them really are down to earth and lovely. Please keep up the content. Love you guys!

RobertoVeloScoutDeeper truths!I’m definitely more kook than waterperson, but LOVE this podcast; it’s really about adventure, the earth, and trying to figure out our place in it! Listen to the new one with Nidala Barker or an older favorite with Nathan Oldfield

J FrankensteinConversations to Spark Positive Action, Change, and Healing! This podcast is for everyone! It is for surfers, like Lauren and Dave, but it is also for paddlers, swimmers, conservationists, or anyone who just wants to hear a meaningful conversation. I am not a surfer, but is is by far my favorite place to listen! I first found this podcast by chance in the summer of 2019 when I had a lot of personal struggles. The nature of my work had brought me near the sea for a long time and I wanted to maybe find something to help calm my mind from people who maybe found beauty in the same things I did. Now, five years later, I still remember where I was when I listened to the first few episodes!. I often go back to revisting conversations from the years past for clarity or to revisit important topics. This podcast has helped me realize that I am not alone and that the ocean, rivers, lakes, and streams of our world provide life changing experiences for all people. The conversations around those stories are truly inspiring and thought provoking. Calls to action for our future and self-reflection. Lauren and Dave exemplify people who truly care and are thoughtful about how we can make the world a better place. I am so thankful for their desire to bring people together and have these conversations, sitting in circles, and bringing to light important topics. Thank you so much! I will listen (and likely relisten) to every epsiode!

HC MaineIn the momentWater people engages us to listen to our hearts . Especially those of us who are so close with the ocean we feel it’s tides, waves …it’s reach finding us even in our darkest moments . We find the light in these conversations of joy, struggle , pain and triumph. I especially loved the Nathan Oldfield selection . The ordinary moments contain the magic . And a new companion accompanies me daily, as mentioned in the above podcast. The prophet by Kahlil Gibran. “Your friend is your needs answered .” Water People is that friend ✌️

lexidaoussisI love this podcastI listen to Waterpeople at least once a week. Each story is so heartfelt, Lauren and Dave with their personal questions and open heartedness have a really profound way of connecting with their guests. This makes the conversations deep, insightful, and makes you feel like you are almost in the room with them. Each story no matter how varied is either relatable, humbling to hear, or inspiring. It’s rare to actually find this in a podcast - there are no other podcasts which I feel I could listen to episode after episode for days on end. Thanks for continuing to find amazing guests and having deep conversations.
-

TropicoBoogieStellar and movingLike me, you might come here for surf, but this podcast is so much more. Insightful conversations that effortlessly flow and weave through surf, environmental, and everything in between. Lauryn and Dave ask the right kind of questions and never interrupt the interviewee. Beyond that, even the intro music is on point. Sets the mood. This is a gem of a podcast and because of Lauryn and Daves hard work, we get to enjoy them. Good on ya
-
tarkjohnWonderful StorytellingWondeful storytelling about the interconnectivity of people and water around the globe. I always find the episodes equally educational and engaging

LJ7891Thoughtful, engaging conversations on the oceanTruly one of my favorite new podcasts. I turn it on when I want to feel some stoke for surfing, or for a thoughtful discussion with people who love the ocean as much as I do. There’s always some comment or topic from their interviews that I end up pondering for days and talking about with my surf friends - for example their discussion with a female longboarder who proposed that it’s enough to just stand up and watch the wave, nothing else is really needed; or I love to share with people how I learned that surfers share a skin microbiome with cetaceans. The mix of science with sport is something I’ve never found anywhere else. Thank you for making this podcast and providing such beautiful discussions of all kinds of surfing and all kinds of ocean science, united with a love for the ocean.

fradovan10/10The hosts have a unique and comfortable interview process - to witness their conversations unfolding is such a treat. I have found myself losing hope when consuming other environmental-related media, but this podcast gives me hope for a better future. Thank you for creating this!

OCannibalThank youI just recently found this podcast when the episodes were uploaded on youtube and am so thankful to have found it. Dave has always been an inspiration for me in his surfing as well as the way he lives his life outside of the water. Riding different boards and letting the amazing experiences that we have in the ocean shape who we are outside of the water. I love his surfing videos which typically have short tidbits of knowledge and perspective but long form interviews give more in depth insight. The episode with Torren and Aiyana was amazing as the gratitude for this life and experiences along the way was evident. As a parent of young kids, I love to hear Dave and Lauren’s perspective on parenting and navigating the world at this point in the journey. I also really enjoyed the Tom Carroll episode and was lucky enough to talk story with him at my local surf shop on the east coast of the US. I appreciate his honesty and sharing of lessons learned along the way. Now that the episodes are on youtube, it would be cool if some in person interviews were video to show facial expressions and scenery. Thank you for putting out this content and I look forward to listening to more!

steaksandwichandasteaksandwichWonderful showI love listening to this show! The stories shared are interesting and inspiring. I’ve learned a lot about surfing history and culture and I feel more connected to the sport I love because of it! Thank you! 🩵

marcmueller_Worth your timeI have listened to this podcast for awhile and can say it’s worth your time. Lots of outdoorsy podcast focus on how hardcore the athletes and accomplishments are, and while that’s fun it doesn’t relate to my day to day life. Waterpeople, in contrast, is more thoughtful and meditative. Lots of interesting people from various backgrounds are interviewed and I find myself taking something away from each episode I listen too. I have lots of respect for Lauren and Dave and am very grateful for the podcast. ✌🏻
-
