Loved this story. Really enjoyed the reminiscing about the magazines! I remember when I was first married, 1980, I had moved from the state capital to a very small town without any family close by. I had started a new job too, so my magazines were my connection to homemaking and current events. I do remember the local newspaper used to print pictures of clothes patterns you could send away for too. I made a lot of my own clothes then, money was tight then. I too still have recipes in my collection from those days. Thank you for the wonderful memories and the great story telling. Sandy Whitcraft

    Must listen to this!
If you have any interest in quilting or women who quilt or life in the 1930s, you MUST listen to this podcast. The characters are engaging, although not saccharine sweet! The narrator, who is the author, has a very pleasant voice. I want to be friends with the women in the quilt group!

    Love this podcast!
Frances, thank you for sharing your gift of storytelling with the world! Do I like this because I’m a quilter? Because I love historical fiction? Because you write such vibrant characters? I think it’s all of these, plus the feelings that I can’t express in words. Thank you!

    What a surprise!
I found this story to be refreshing and well narrated! I did not think I would like it but found it to be addictive. The themes in this story apply to these times and were relatable. I can’t wait to start again with the next season.

    A True Delight!
I just spent the most enjoyable afternoon listening to the last episodes of Quiltfiction. This sociologist really liked the issues brought up from social class differences, racism, bereavement, education, and changing perspectives on women’s lives. I also loved how much I laughed out loud so many times over the characters’ inner thoughts.

    I miss my friends
I listened to each episode as soon as released and now I miss my friends. The story was engaging, distinctive, and thoroughly enjoyable. I’d love to hear more.

    Friendship album 1933
I have listened to this podcast repeatedly and could listen again. You get to know the ladies in the quilt group like friends. It is a very well written story. I looked forward to the new episode each week, and couldn’t wait to listen.

    I loved it!
Highly recommendable— I binge-listened to all of the podcast episodes over a half week while working in my sewing studio. I thought it was well-written and comfortable to listen to without being overly predictable. Good quilt history research and the setting made the story rich. The characters were well-developed and seemed suited to the book’s era and even the antagonist was mostly likable. The author’s voice and reading style were also very, very good and contributed much to the overall experience. My only complaint would be that I had a hard time keeping the episodes in the correct listening order in my podcast app.

    Great characters, inviting voice!
I would listen to Frances read the phone book. Her voice sounds like an old friend, comforting and warm. But this is so much better than the phone book because the story itself and the characters are so real. Frances makes you want to fall into the book and be friends with the people in it, quilt with them and bake with them and meet their families. I can’t wait for more!!

    Looked forward to each podcast
The story was great fun to listen to. It was real and created a great picture in one’s mind of what life must’ve been like in the Midwest in that era. It was great to follow along with these women as you knew what they were working on; you knew their quilt blocks; you could imagine what their quilts might look like; and their homes! A wonderful way to connect.

    Family Friendly
I’ve listened to all the episodes of Friendship Album, 1933. It is such a good, wholesome story that is even appropriate for young children. My daughters loved listening with me. The characters and story are shared in a way that makes you feel as if you are part of the story.

    A Wonderful Story
I was looking for something to listen to while I quilted and I was so please to find this book in a podcast! Each episode is a new chapter in the book and I was sad when it ended - so I listened again! It’s a delightful story that is very well written. The author is very active in the accompanying Facebook group and it’s fun to get to know her and hear more about the podcast.

I enjoyed listening to this book and was honestly shocked today on my walk to realize it was over. The characters and their lives and the author herself reading it made it a joy to anticipate another episode in my queue. Thank you and look forward to another story line or maybe a continuation of this one.
