IamkevboLate to the gameI know I’m late to game but this has been a fabulous alternative to listening to music while driving around. The humor and story is great, thanks for doing this :)

Sweet Virgo BStarted from the beginningLove the main story and am getting into Kino. Just started season 2. Pun on my dudes!

EarthdudelarryI did enjoy itI enjoyed this podcast, but it is taking forever. After 20” episodes of the main campaign I’m getting irritated cuz I’m not remembering past events. And then add in kino, it further confuses me. Plus soooo much talking, it’s old now. I need equal narrative and fighting. I’m not caring/enjoying the characters as I used to. Sorry guys

Baptist The ArtificerAmazing to listen to.I drive a lot and as such listen to a lot of podcast. This one is a cut above the rest. V is an excellent and fair DM with an amazing ability to control Neal’s added Chaos. Neal does a wonderful job of editing the show as well as playing a complete sweetheart of a character. Casey somehow manages to help others with conversations about LGBTQ and Drug Abuse issues as without breaking character. And Arch has played a character who is the definition of growth. All four of them are amazing and Swash adds in a whole new bowl of fun.

txtreeskiThis WAS great, but …*(update)*Struggle-bus fan signing off; first review below. Y’all need to know when to say “when.”Honestly, I don’t even know what’s happening anymore. I have and would listen to the first few seasons of each branch of this show again and again, but y’all are too talented as voice actors and storytellers to not know how to tie up this campaign. I’ve truly been trying to care, but for real: when it’s over, it’s over (and NOW y’all have ads!?). Super disappointing. If you’re too busy to work on this, that’s fair (and congrats). Just admit it and bow out. I’m done listening. Best, **[Original review from a year ago below.]** This started off as a fantastic podcast, but the last few dozen episodes have been painful to listen to. It seems like the actors are bored and aren’t getting along with each other. I keep hoping that V will figure out a way to pick up the pace and find a satisfying conclusion to this particular campaign, but there are too many storylines, and none are particularly captivating anymore. I loved this for so long, but can hardly stand to listen anymore.

CsymtyrI liked a lot at firstSo my previous review got deleted. Not sure why. I don’t recall saying anything ugly or using profanity or violating any kind of rule.. So anyway.. I used to like this podcast a good bit. Until I got much further along in it. I realized over and over and over again that the DM is very inexperienced, which would normally be ok or even great. But there’re just some very common knowledge type things, and blatant errors that get somewhat grating sometimes. My main point of contention or complaint, is the very very clear bias and favoritism. You’ll notice as the episodes go on and on, that the DM will always take the side of Zoltanna/Casey, regardless of any really bad rolls, regardless of certain rules, even when Casey or her character is very clearly wrong or failing a challenge, or roll, or battle, or major plot point. I have many examples of this, like the many many times that V (the DM) doesn’t even require Zoltanna to roll at all, just allows her to auto-win some type of encounter or interaction with an NPC. The example of the really mundane speech she gives to gain followers, was just a very generic.. kinda just bad speech. However the thing that makes me actually write a negative review, when I barely ever leave reviews on anything at all.. is there clear mistreatment and added difficulty that the favoritism adds to mainly just Ballance’s character. He’s constantly insta-failing, rolling good or ‘ok’ yet, still losing an interaction or encounter. Example being, Balance rolls a 15 and loses some normal conversation thing with an NPC, but, Zoltanna rolls a 3 or a 7 and succeeds in becoming a god… or gaining hundreds of followers.. or plenty of other things.. I just really really don’t like the bias and favoritism. It really really destroys the whole experience, the narrative just feels contrived, scripted, setup, whatever.. it’s just very aggravating. Especially when you DO like the individuals, you like the players, and I don’t hate or despise the DM.. I just hate that they can’t see it’s apparent they’re treatment of the players is highly skewed and prejudiced.

MichaelPaxton91TLD Podcast is One of a Kind!If you like D&D, great story telling, awesome characters and so so much more you need to stop what you are doing and check out The Lucky Die. It is one of my favorite shows on Apple Podcasts!

REDDxxRABBITReview or love letter?I will try to keep this as short as possible.. Right, So I’m a 35yr old journeyman/Forman for the Electrical company I work for. I’m a father of three & I am subscribed to approx 27 podcasts that haven’t been listened to since I discovered TLD & DD. I have never played D&D or even seen a D&D game before in my life. No stranger to fantasy, Ie. FF, Dark souls, MTG in the early yrs. Never D&D though. Which I realize now is ironic that it’s essentially the same thing I’d do in games. This podcast , besides consuming every second of air time my ear pods get. Makes me regret that daily. What the TLD team and others like it are doing here is remarkable and admirable to say the least. My wife might be making fun of me and that’s fine. It’s been fun answering dinner inquiries or questions on locations of said children with, That would require a successful.. investigation/perception check. She loves it. Honestly if I wasn’t the sole provider for our family in this not so family friendly world, TLD would be my first time using patreon*.?. I can’t stop listening, please don’t stop producing. Tell travis cmon ! I will be starting season 2 tonight on my drive home from work. Pretty excited. THANK YOU!!

Krisurbactual play with a lot of heartThe Lucky Die is not the first actual play podcast I have listened to, but it is one of the only that I have stuck with beyond the first few episodes. The dm and her players hit the emotional beats beautifully while keeping up with the action and combat that keep the story moving.

Bear the king of awesomeWhat in the demon lordAthor I think I might also know what you are fighting good luck I believe in you. Wishing luck on your roles for attacking. Praying for 20s

choot0707The BestThis is the best podcast I’ve listened to. I love the story and the characters. I’m officially emotionally invested into this story. The main story and the side story are great and the bonus episodes with special guests are always hilarious. 10 out of 10 Would totally recommend!!

DarkCrystal34Deeply touching, character-based roleplayThe Lucky Die podcast is one of my favorite actual-play discoveries from the past year, and it is truly unique in the way it shines through touching roleplay, deep characters, and fantastic chemistry between GM and players. This show really touches the heart strings by exploring character backstories, and somehow manages to walk a line of being a high fantasy show that hits two distinct tones: at times it is dark, tense and dramatic, and other times it is pure and sweet like a Studio Ghibli movie. I can't name a single other podcast that embodies this tone, and huge kudos to the amazing GM and uniformally awesome cast for this unique and touching effort!
-
BachpantsLove this podcastI love this podcast. The story and characters are rad. One thing that frustrates me is Arch seems to nitpick Casey on so many things. It’s like he challenges her intelligence constantly… and not in character
-
JacksFanaticDeep charactersI am starting behind so I have a lot of catching up to do. I love the work you put in to character development. Keep up the good work!
-
RedAuggieDeep and engaging! This is so much fun to listen along to. Once you start you will not be able to stay away. It doesn’t make it any easier when you hear how much fun they are clearly having playing together. I wish my D
-
tjkysAwesomeThis is a great podcast. The players do amazingly with their characters. The story is full of thrilling situations and mysteries. I’m on episode 22 and it’s awesome

izzyinthedungeonYou will feel all the emotionsThis story is amazing. Volly is such a creative and lovely DM, her storytelling is everything I hope to be as a DM. Arch (Lafian) is incredibly invested in his character and you can feel that in his gameplay. Neil (Rhal) is a bundle of joy at every turn, even when things are dark for his character (which is most of the time, but we love Raal). Ey þór(Squash) brings lessons about reality to this podcast and reminds us that we are never truly alone. And Casey? Both Casey and her character Zaltana are absolutely amazing. They make me feel brave even when I’m crying. So, definitely give this podcast a shot! It has lots of lovely side characters as well, great puns and and even better (muscle) guns <3

xshadowxwolfx7xOne of the Best! These wonderful people and their remarkable binge-worthy story are worth every minute of this journey! As they weave this story, you’ll become attached to their characters just like your favorite characters from your favorite novel / movie / tv show, guaranteed! Will you be their next listener? I guess we’re about to find out!

LilyMoonbeamFeels like family...Do you know how when you read a good book or a series of books the characters start to feel like old friends or family members? That’s how this podcast is. I found The Lucky Die after exhausting the Fool and Scholar collection of podcasts. I was very happy to learn that a talented voice actor of The White Vault and The Dark Dice had her own D&D real play podcast, so of course I had to check it out. I’m 50-ish episodes in and completely hooked! I think i’ll actually be sad when I’ve caught up with the story. I take Balance, Ral, and Zaltanna wherever I go. I enjoy the character progression and can’t wait to hear how the individual character’s stories turn out as well as the overarching tale. This podcast has all the things I love - high fantasy, laughs, and storytelling. Highly recommended!
-
Starry GirlPerfectly BingableI discovered this podcast via a recommendation, and binged about 100 episodes in 3 months. Fun players, bad Puns and a great story all controlled by creative DM this is a story that will give you hours of entertainment.
-
Mead91Hilarious and Awesome!!Favorite podcast for sure! Makes me laugh or cry every time!! Make sure to check out TLD for a good time😉😉. IGWATFO!! And make sure you double clack to minimize your character sheet!!
-
WrawbGreat example of role playingThe role playing of the characters and NPCs is great. I’ve been inspired to be better at role playing my own characters.
-
flstc1981Amazing StorytellingVolonda is one of my favorite DMs. The chemistry of this group and their ability to tell a narrative keeps me listening.
-
Cowboy198981New Guy in townWell I learned that there was an unofficial gunfighter class so I became intrigued with D&D. I like a good bit of story and interjecting myself into it with how I’d handle the situation. Never played a game in my life but looking into it downloaded a character creation app and did it all wrong lol. I’ve started from the very first episode y’all did on here and am following it through. Y’all are keeping me entertained whilst I’m at work loving it so far.
-
Falamon_So love this show!!From Diskora to Kino to the off shoot episodes they do an amazing job. This show has given me goosebumps to making me Awww to even tear up. The people bring the story and charecters to life, and pull you into the world. And from listening to this has aslo helped me become a better D&D player. 10 out 10 must listen to.
-
JennTheAngelFun And TearsThis is my first time listening to The Lucky Die. I listen to episodes from 1 to 81 and so far I’m intrigued. And there have definitely been times where I’ve almost cried. All in all, it’s a wonderful podcast.
-
Halfway Decent DmLove the showI’m on episode 98 and I have really enjoyed TLD so far. The story keeps my interest and the cast and DM are a lot of fun. Audio quality is surprisingly good for a small group without a massive following. Love you guys keep up the hard work.
-
NecromanticWolfBest thing to listen to at workAlthough it seems to me that Ral gets the short end of the stick, consistently. I did have a thought occur to me though last night since he produces so much excess acid i fee l he should be able to learn to use his acid twice a day, volanda allowing, also with the excess i thought what if he could have an assortment of glass phials that can collect the acid so he can use it as a pseudo acid bomb
-
d&dguruBalanceBalance is my all time favorite character. He’s the best. He’s the reason I stay with the podcast
-
Ben VacGreat live play podcastThe first ten episodes have been thoroughly enjoyable. I am super happy to find a live play podcast of this quality with such a deep back catalogue!
-
jskfnwifoowksBeautifully told and remarkably editedFirst of all let me say that when I realized the majority of this podcast was edited and finished by Niel I was in awe. As to the rest. This is an actual play that focuses on character and on story. It is full of moments of fun and laughter but immediately the trio are introduced with empathy. It is not often you meet three inmates and love them instantly. Listen to the backstory episodes. It’s truly phenomenal.
-
RedBeardGeekExcellent and well thought out! This podcast is honestly one of the best D&D actual games play podcasts I’ve listened to. Not only that but they tackle some tough actual issues and when they do it is always done the the utmost care. Episode 132 is a great example and the players give some real world resources to help those that might need some assistance dealing with everything happening out there these days! Love you guys! Keep up the good work!

kingkong573.05Charecter moment:Xaltana’s new Goddess version of a Thunderous Smite is red lightning, so you can still say, “BRING DOWN THE HOLY THUNDER MOTHER F#####!” Jus a thought
-

Balances Number 1 FanBalance Best Boi1000000/10 podcast. Amazing story, heart wrenching cliffhangers and an incredible cast.
-
Will's Secret AdmirerCongratulationsOn being the first podcast to make me cry. Don’t get me wrong. I laughed too. A lot. But I think being the first to make me cry was a real accomplishment.
-
d&d foreverThis podcast is so awesomeBalance has such an incredible backstory and it is so fun watching the characters grow over time. One question I have is how do you deal with naming your NPC’s? One DM to the other.
-
EllayBLove it!One of the main things I look for in my carefully procured actual play podcast list is inclusivism. Though I’m unsure how many people of color are represented, the TLD world represents a portion of the LGBT community with respect. But they’ve gone above and beyond with Rhal. As a character, he lives with an ongoing, challenging disability - AND he’s a beloved hero who fights on in any way he can. That kind of representation is so rare, and usually is portrayed by an NPC easily sent to the background. I love that Volly and Neil work together to make a realistic character with agency and impact. The production and world-building are great, and the role-playing is immersive. Volly creates distinct NPCs and I like her flexibility as a DM. Rule sticklers have their place, but IMO they shouldn’t ruin the rules of fun or cool. There’s some homebrew stuff which supersedes the core rules, and hey - it’s her table, and the players agree, so it works for them. There’s still a lot of “rule-restriction” and fair application of failed checks/saves that challenge the players. The fight encounters aren’t a breeze, either. I’m still bingeing through, but I haven’t gotten bored, and look forward to popping in my headphones to continue catching up. Finally, I love LOVE the theme song. After a few eps, I usually skip over the intro, but I look forward to TLD’s every time.

jdjendbjsje s dudjsjsnnsLove this podcast within ALL my heart ❤️I’ve been binge listening and I’ve finally caught up. Let me just say that Rhal’s hugs, Balance’s (because I can’t spell his full name) brain magics and banter, and Zultana’s drive and electric personality never fail to brighten my day. Sending good vibes for everyone! - PS: i find that the main source of suspense in this podcast is Arch’s roll20 curse! Will it ever be cured???
-
AqranhymWhat a cast of Characters! So cool to hear voices from the other podcasts I frequent. Also, the music in the library heist was amazing! Thank you for the rich stories as our apocalypses collide.
-
Troxy87Absolutely love itThis has been dominating my podcast listening for the past couple of weeks. Hilarious, deep, I love everything about it. Don’t listen to the detractors. This is the best play through I’ve ever listened to. Thank you guys so much, keep it up!
-
TicitterSoooo good!Love how the story unfolds. The characters are deep and have sorted pasts. Also appreciate the levity between the voice actors 😂
-
WhiteTiherHilarious and Deep, Compelling Story! The Lucky Die has fantastic writing, improv, and character development. At the same time the actors/players are hilarious, entertaining, and very fun to listen to!
-
monstrzOne of the best live-playsThe quality of the story is sometimes so high that I forget I’m listening to a d&d podcast
-
Don HitmanAmazing storyI really enjoy this podcast. Rhal needs to be a little more confident in himself and balance should stop thinking he is the boss but zaltana is one of my favorites. I love her story as she has progressed and I’m extremely happy to listen to this pod cast. I am more than happy to recommend it to anyone that asks about a actual play dnd podcast. Now that I have finished the main story time to go back and listen to the kino story.
-
joushuuWHY CAN'T RHAL BE HAPPYThe podcast is great but it makes me so sad. I knew this podcast was going to be a bummer when they homebrewed the rules for dragonborn. Oh man... but it's good. I love it.
-
Farmer1227This is amazing!!!Absolutely love this podcast. It’s so amazing! Took me a month to catch up. Listened to 8 episodes a night during work. Again AMAZING PODCAST!!’
