I enjoying listening to every episode. I learn tips to help me in my own veg and perennial gardens, as well as being inspired to try new things

For those of us who have participated in the Academy and continue to communicate with classmates and other gardeners, podcasts can be like a little family reunion. We know we all listen to every single one because we discuss and expand on them. John has an uncanny way of reading our minds and providing knowledge and inspiration just at the right time. We know we are part of a community from all over the country and beyond. We learn, we share, we commiserate. With the challenges this summer from global warming it's been especially important to have a support system. Thanks, Joe.

I’ve been such a fan of this show for a long time, and I’m always thankful for what I learn and can apply to my own gardens in zone 4. Love the latest episode from the garden and being able to hear the birds in the background!

I always enjoy Joe’s podcasts, his guests, his passion for gardening and generosity in sharing his knowledge! I look to each week’s podcast with anticipation of another great hour spent learning or expanding my knowledge. I am enjoying the focus on ecological gardening, as an individual with a passion for sustainability and restoration of natural habitat. The most recent episode brought to my mind language used by one of my touchstones in ecology and land restoration, Aldo Leopold. Leopoldo’s Land Ethic written 75 years ago is as relevant today as it was in 1948. I was impressed how the idea of changing ‘hearts and minds’ by love of the land - not lecturing - is what is needed for change. Leopold would have agreed. I would enjoy hearing a podcast interviewing someone from the Leopold Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin and how his message and work is still so important today. Keep up the great work! Jill

Not only do I look forward to new episodes every week, but the archive of past shows is a library of resources that I return to again and again. If I’m researching a new concept or method related to gardening, botany, and beyond I’ll often look to see if there is a Joe Gardening episode on my topic—and there so often IS! That is always such a relief for me because this show covers topics in an unparalleled clear, concise, and extremely detailed way. As a host, Joe is fantastic at asking the right questions and lending his own expertise without outshining his guests. Entertaining, fun, helpful. 10/10.

When I retired as a Master Gardener, the only thing I missed was the education component. My own gardens are many and I like to stay current on trends and science. I am confident that the quality of information Joe and his expert guests provide exceeds expectations and is presented in a clear, entertaining and factually supported way. My number one recommended podcast!

This is one of my favorite gardening podcasts. One can never know too much when it comes to the garden. The range of topics are very broad and I go back and pick up topics that I need at the moment or listen to older podcasts to help me plan for the coming season and so forth. I enjoy all the episodes of this podcast series but Episode 345 really inspired me regarding simplifying and maximizing any kind of business.

Episode 343 was a wonderful listen and another learning opportunity for even a seasoned gardener! Biggest take away for me was the heads up about not disturbing natural wildlife habitats whether thats a pile of leaves, or overgrown grasses … leave it be! Everyone deserves a good home! Thanks

I’ve been listening to the podcast for nearly a year now and it’s been a joy. As a new organic gardener in San Antonio, you’ve helped me feel empowered to find (and provide others) with solutions for a greener world. I used to watch growing a greener world on pbs, but it has been a while since I watched an episode. I was so excited when I found this podcast. So much good information to absorb and fill up on. I am so excited to put all this information into action! Thank you for the buffet of information I can fill up on!

I have been a listener for a long time and always waiting for GGW on PBS (or YT) every year! I think if I could wish for the person that would be your ultimate neighbor - it would be Joe. I'm a runner, wine drinker, avid gardener all my life (in addition to food preserver). I think tho if I had Joe as my neighbor I'd just want to have conversations and share a bottle of wine all the time! lol I love all the varied topics with top of the line subject experts that are on his show. I have people asking me gardening questions all the time and I always end my answer with "...and you should listen to the Joe Gardener podcast!!!!" And then top that with the great online education classes you put together which I have had the pleasure of taking part in - can never learn enough!! So hey Joe if you ever need to move to Ohio... I'll set aside some land for ya. ;) Now back to my fall veggie garden and planting more of the Ohio native plants we started from seed to remove more and more lawn and add more habitat on our homestead. Hi Joe, I’ve been a loyal listener and viewer of Growing a Greener World and some of you seminars and absolutely love you podcast. I am a master gardener and have a degree in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development and have a good size organic vegetable garden in southern Maryland, zone 7b as you are. Even though I have quite a lot of knowledge and experience in gardening I learn so much and get so inspired by you and your amazing podcast guests. The Back to the Roots episode was great. I have seen the products in the stores but didn’t know the story behind the company did just that. I am so glad to hear that it is a legitimate trustworthy sustainable company putting so much thought into the need to change the industry and way we think about food production and accessibility for homeowners . Where I live it is very hard to even source decent organic soil and compost, especially in bulk. Now hearing about Back to the Roots and their “North Star” mission I will seek out their product knowing I am supporting a company with a regenerative sustainability mission. Thanks you for always having such thought provoking discussions and inspiring guests. Keep them coming. You make my long hours in the car to soccer practice so enjoyable and educational. I am very new to gardening, as in I just planted some green beans in a container last month (july) and collard greens this month (august) . I’m loving this podcast and learning so much. I’ll be sticking with container gardening for at least the next two-ish years since I live in an apartment. I would love episodes on container gardening and using grow bags.

I love listening to Joe, the information he provides is reliable and easy to understand no matter how long you've been a gardener. With the information Joe has provided I've expanded what I'm growing in my garden and extending my gardening season.

This episode glorifies Walmart and the corporate adoption of organic trends including seeds. There is no acknowledgment of how Walmart has systematically destroyed small businesses in every community they exist in. Including local farm and garden centers. You can’t create a movement of food change and sustainability by greenwashing a company that pays such low wages their employees rely on food stamps. Hardly “Growing a greener world…” This show is a bust.

Joe and his team have taken me from a beginning gardener to the person my neighbors come to for veggies and gardening advice. As I drop another giant bundle of herbs and veggies to the sweet grandma down the street and introduce her to all sorts of new and delightful heirloom treats, I am so grateful for this podcast and all the ways it has empowered me to be a bigger contribution to my students and community. This podcast makes gardening for this newbie feel much less overwhelming. Even if I can’t have my dream garden yet, or if the weather is inclement for getting outside, I feel like Joe and his guests, and all their expertise, still bring the garden to me. Can’t wait to get caught up!

What a fantastic podcast! The information is presented to audiences at all skill levels and Joe has such a great, down to earth personality - each episode flies by. I have enjoyed getting my ‘garden geek’ on and learning the science behind so many aspects of gardening. Great guests and Joe is an expert at asking his guests the exact questions we all have! Listen when you’re out in the garden, commuting, doing household chores - time well spent! I have learned a ton already, and look forward to future episodes. The show notes are fantastic as well! Too much geek. Too little fun and not enough real gardening information. Has just become a vehicle for boring topics and guests, but if you want the type of material that used to be in this podcast or “Growing a Greener World”, Joe will sell it to you at exorbitant price points.

I like the guests Joe has on the show .Joe does a wonderful job asking the questions we may be thinking ourselves . The topics are in keeping with my curiosity. I like that Joe shares his failure and success so I don’t feel so bad when I fail or make mistakes. I look forward to Thursday knowing there will be a new episode for me to listen too on my long ride home from work. Thanks and keep the episodes coming- Ken from Queensbury NY.

I used to learn from the show, but now it is so much of Joe plugging the products that sponsor him, and his own courses that cost $$$. There’s also no accountability. Apparently a product he has promoted for years had a persistent herbicide in it, but he never owned up to this and apologized to those who purchased it based on his recommendation, and instead just alluded to it in passing. That’s pretty disappointing and shows a real lack of integrity.

A gardening podcast that covers a very wide range of topics. Sometimes I wish they were covered more deeply, but he has guests have written a book or books on the topics. I have a topic suggestion: phytoremediation. A member of our family bought an acre that was basically used as a garbage dump. You wouldn’t believe. I am warning them not to grow food on the property. After they physically haul away everything how to get the chemicals out of the soil?? Things like walls out of old camping trailers(pressboard with a thin vinyl wall covering) that are completely disintegrated into the ground, over 100 old tires, lots of plastic bits, and who knows what chemicals were dumped. The garden radio guy from Pennsylvania mentioned some plants that can help: sunflowers and alfalfa are two. But what to do with the plants when mature? Haul away? I suppose unfortunately with the chemical bomb that went off in Ohio this subject might be of interest. Our world needs help.

Joe has one of the best podcasts about home gardening—period. I am never disappointed when I hear the words “Geek Alert!” These are some of the best episodes with incredible information about the cutting edge of horticulture. I listen once, and then I listen again and take notes! I love it! Gardeners never stop learning, and this show proves it. Thank you Joe and Team for producing such useful and timely content!

Engaging host, but the show needs better editing, and he could work on his interview skills. Good information!

This was a one hour plug to spend money on the real info. What a shame

At first, I was a bit skeptical about this podcast, as I assumed Joe was more “TV guy” than “garden teacher.” Wow, was I wrong. Joe is without question the best garden teacher I have found, and his knowledge of gardening is both broad and deep. Some episodes focus on simpler “how to” topics, while others go deeper into the most detailed science of gardening, plants and soil. All are enjoyable. Most importantly, Joe is a gifted teacher. The high professional quality of his podcasts and videos are just the icing the cake.

I agree with others who enjoy the podcast because of the subject matter, the host’s style and manner of presentation, and the quality of the guests on the program. I love most of the podcast. Only one aspect of the podcast turns me off and it’s the host’s appeal for reviews at the end of the program. This is the only podcast that I listen to that the host encourages listeners to write a review and include their name so that Joe might “call out” their name on the show. I want to be motivated to listen to the show because of the content not because I might hear my review read on air. I have a suggestion for the time allotted for this aspect of the show. Solicit gardening tips from listeners and share those tips with other listeners or simply offer a gardening tip for the day.

Joe is so easy to learn from. So many people teach like they are above the students whereas Joe teaches like a friend. His podcast is easy to listen to and really informative. Growing a greener world is the best show (PBS) and his classes are worth the time and money. I wholly recommend this podcast and visiting his website. Joe keeps up to date on the latest gardening techniques for creating a healthy garden. He goes beyond organic and into regenerative. His year in review podcast is a timesaver as he shares all his best information in that episode.

The show is great and really is informative on a lot of levels! But I wish Joe would shorten up the long talk in the beginning. Introduce the person and let’s get to hearing them.

I love this show but this podcast was not only an infomercial but an odd choice. Make no mistake, growing hydroponically is not organic and can never be. Plants are grown with chemicals; it’s the only way to get nutrients. Joe should change the name of his show if this is his new direction.

I found this podcast when I searched for organic gardening podcasts. This was the first one that came up so I decided to listen and if I didn’t like it, I would move on to whatever was next on the list. I’m still listening and I never moved on. I’ve been gardening for almost 30 years and growing my own food for a little over a dozen years now. We had a farm for 10 years and i grew most of our food with no chemicals along with raising cows, pigs and chickens sustainably and I also sold some produce to our local CSA. So I thought I was really knowledgeable UNTIL a I started listening to your podcast, Joe. I have learned so much and I continue to. I started with episode one and am currently listening to episode 72. How in the world will I ever catch up with you? My husband and I have also watched almost all of your growing a greener world shows on YouTube and PBS and my husband has all kinds of projects planned after watching your show. I can’t put into words what an inspiration you have been to us and how grateful I am for the continuing education. Your science based information presented by industry experts is priceless. Also, Joe, you are incredibly winsome and gracious as a host and your humble presentation draws us in and keeps us listening and watching. Keep up the good work, you are making a big difference!
