Kilgortrout18So good!As others have mentioned, sometimes the recording quality isn’t the best. But, what Max lacks in that arena, he more than makes up for it with such great, informative content. I’ve learned so much from this podcast and really recommend it for anyone interested in the (insanely broad) history of Latin America.

Keeper at home ElaAmazingThis is the best history on Latin America I have ever heard/ read. It is easy to understand and looks at the people rather than just cold data. It also is surprisingly non biased (as far as that is possible for us humans). I use it for homeschooling and our older children love it.

flowerprofSo informative! This podcast, narrated deliciously by Max Serjeant, is informative and full of accurate historical anecdotes. It is not a dramatic presentation, but rather a unique perspective of Latin America from a European perspective, with full understanding of the historical influences that have, and continue to affect the Americas. I love the details, and the effort to present them in abundance. Max presents from his personal experiences backed by history. Brilliant!

AlyssaaaaaBOkNot the best audio quality and definitely needs someone to oversee editing
-
booheavenAddictive and interestingMy only complaint is the quality of the audio. However it sounds like the author does a lot of traveling so that may explain. I’m looking forward to seeing where this story goes, as Latin American history is an increasingly broad subject.

jujguguThe Americas comes to lifeThe host is an informative narrator that cleverly ties real life historic events in the Americas to our current world.

jpereyra65Good ShowVery thorough, it would make it more appealing if it were more dramatized.

AwesomePossum3Love this pod - smart & accessibleI only know snippets here and there about Latin American history, and have been listening from the beginning of the pod to pull things together. It’s great! Chill, informative, very accessible for the lay history fan.

prof nicoleFantastic public historianMax It works very hard to understand academic history in a way that is relatable to his listeners. I love his accent as well!

mbenji87Very engaging history podcastI found this podcast about a year ago and recently caught up with the latest episode (August 2021 as of the writing of this review). I have learned a lot about Latin American history from each episode. Max seems to be on a bit of a break, but I hope he’s well and that he’ll be back soon with more content. Definitely recommended.

Stay Free 87Big props to MaxTo quote Max, "Hello." I'm an American who has traveled to Cuba, Belize, Puerto Rico and parts of Mexico and always been fascinated with the incredible people and places but never taken a deep dive into Latin American history until discovering Max's enjoyable and illuminating podcast. I hope he creates many more episodes soon.

John Stryker03Excellent PodcastI’m really happy to have found this podcast. It’s simple in format and Max brings a lot of great information each time. From the Precolombian era it is now on the Conquistadors. I look forward to seeing how far forward it’s able to go! Recommend if you are interested in Latin America.

luispantojaVery good podcastThis is a very good podcast on a topic that is under appreciated. I wish the creator and narrator would include a bit more of his sources but other than that I highly recommend it!

Juister13Fascinating and PassionateThis is not a high tech, studio-made production, and yet it is one of the best podcasts there is! The passion of the host and the vast amounts of information he knows make this podcast entertaining and indispensable for anyone with even a mild interest in Latin American history. If you like history of any kind, you will like this podcast. Thank you for making this!

JSCArizonaWhere does he find those stories? The author has a bottomless supply of interesting tales. His smooth narration floats you through time and place. I’m happy when I see a new episode pop up in the morning.

Buddhist RookieFascinating and Superbly DeliveredThis history podcast is incomparable in its depth and action packed narrative. The history of personalities and motivations beginning in Spain, the conquistadors and the indigenous is expertly uncovered and presented. Somehow Max's Australian accent makes the presentation even better. This truly must be a labor of love and I am most appreciative. I'm thrilled to hear every new episode and look forward to hearing more about Latin America having been to Peru and read the Last Days of the Incas by MacQuarrie, which was terrific. Bravo Max !

Normandy9Great show!Latin America is a vast area with a variety of people and cultures. Attempting such a topic takes a person who really understands what they are doing. Max does a great job researching and presenting the information in a clear and concise way that makes it easy for the listener to follow along.
-
HoosierCaroComprehensive!Latin America is enormous, and a podcast covering its history must be bold. Fortunately, Max is up to the challenge, giving you a passionate, well-researched, well-presented narrative history of the region. It will be fun to see how he handles the different strands in the colonial era, the wars of independence, and the resulting disparate nations. In the meantime, enjoy this!

spiritual_guruSo interesting!I’m on the fifth episode and I’m hooked . Awesome podcast! Keep them coming man. 5 stars for sure. Wish they were a little lengthier but other than that this is perfect .

grossdissapointmentWell done, compelling storytellingOne of my top favorite podcast series. Well researched and delivered, Max is a good storyteller. He shares facts and details but ultimately he gets himself out of the way lets a riveting narrative shine through. My only wish is that he could produce them faster. Max, put up a Patreon and quit your day job!
-
InSearchOfMoreLightExcellent Podcast considering the Vast TaskConsidering the amount of land and time being covered, as well as the amount of universal agreeable facts available to us about Latin American history, he does an excellent job. Any one episode, I feel like he can dedicate to a podcast itself. I really enjoyed it.

Deca ManHistory with contextAs a US diplomat posted in Latin America I've had the classical history overviews and the good fortune to learn both Spanish and Portuguese making my job easier. But the origins of the Spanish and Portuguese empires were just memorized names, dates and turning points. We usually deal in the present and near future. Max's podcast takes you down to ground level (or sea level) to really understand these historical characters, their backgrounds and motivations. I really enjoyed the Iberian and Caribbean episodes as scene setters for cultural context. I stumbled upon this podcast and listened nonstop for four days and was shocked that I had already caught up to the latest episode. It's also nice to hear Max evolve as a podcaster, improving his tone, rhythm and recording quality. I'm a major consumer of history podcasts and this one is well worth your attention.
-
ghoetkerExcellent! Just listen to it.Super interesting, even though I didn't think I had that much interest in Latin American history per se. The subject matter itself is compelling and the presenter is excellent. He has a nice handle on pacing and depth. Highly recommended.
-
TlimofLove it!Great history podcast, just wished it was longer with more detail.
-
CermakJackI doubted, I listened, I subscribed - do as I say not as I do: subscribe and listen!Even if you THINK you’re not interested in Latin America, you’ll be glad to have proven yourself wrong by taking the plunge and following this podcast from the beginning, where you will not find the tedium of skating past common knowledge but rather be diving deep into compelling ideas... looking forward to the onward development of this podcast and its interpretive/analytic/narrative duende...

PanzerschrekWFantastic informationI came across Max’s plug in another history podcast I enjoy on a regular basis, and, being a descendant of Native American tribes from Latin America, I instantly fell in love with the information given by Max. I look forward to more episodes to further increase my knowledge of the history associated with my ancestors.
