Terra CommunitiesDesigning for Belonging with Dr. Susie WiseEquity Design + Visual Design + Conversation Between 2 Creative Thinkers = A Beautifully Blended, Inspiring & Unifying Podcast (Just like a book that you don’t want to end!) This is one of my favorite John Spencer podcasts, but it’s not the ONLY one, that’s for sure! So many I want to comment on, I’m just on replay for a 2nd (maybe 3rd?!) time as I read her book AGAIN and take notes and journal along. Favorite Quote: “Belonging is a sense.. it’s a feeling that I’m not ONLY included, but WHO I AM is sought out and honored! That I can show up as MY WHOLE SELF - THAT’S what it feels like to belong!” Favorite Rabbit Hole: Othering (the complete opposite of belonging ) & John Powell’s work Just like her book is suggested as a fast and practical read with big and bold ideas that you can easily and regularly reference… So Are John’s Podcasts! So many fascinating rabbit holes of knowledge to go down on each and every one of his podcasts AND this book! Highly worth your time, again and again and again. 😊

VuyfvfyyuvfyguGreat Insight for Educators!I just finished listening to your episode on Sprints, mini projects, and project based learning. To start off, I loved how you explained these concepts from the perspective of your own experiences because it made the episode more interesting and relatable! I also loved how you gave an explanation as to what sprints, mini projects, and project based learning are and how they differ from one another. Prior to listening to this episode I was not aware that sprints and mini projects are components of project based learning! Although I found your explanations on these concepts beneficial, I wish there would have been a little more explanation about the activities that can be implemented as sprints and mini projects. Some of the activities that were mentioned were unfamiliar to me which led me to have a difficult time understanding how I might use these concepts in my own classroom. However, I am a college student who has yet to start their journey as a an educator therefore, I have plenty of time to continue learning. Overall, I am very thankful to have listened to this episode because it provided me with some insights that might be useful to me as I make way into my own classroom in the near future.

Some of the examples you gave and the logic around low/high trust and its relationship to the kind of feedback people give were illustrative and useful. I would recommend people listening to this podcast if they want to become more aware about facilitating for peer feedback in and out of classrooms.

TeacherReviewer_21Great podcastThis is a high-quality podcast and the issues discussed are relevant to today’s educators. My only issue is that John sometimes speaks quietly and I’m not able to hear him clearly.
-
Beach5GirlWhy and HowSometimes teachers hear only the why, which is the focus of this podcast: why direct instruction is from important within a gold-standard PBL. But here you also get how to embed engaging and interactive direct instruction into your classroom projects to improve student learning. I can build on both the why and the how presented in this podcast. After attending PBLOhio, this is extremely timely for me, thank you!
