Americans haven’t cared what the British thought for 250 years!

    Learn a lot
Not only do I learn about history, but I learned you can hit one of those arrow thingies and zip right through your commercials! I know you don’t do this for volunteer work and must spend many hours of research. I almost feel obliged to listen to your commercials because of all the hard work you put in. But like I said that little arrow makes a big difference. It even works on other podcasts. You proved i to me that you’re never too old to learn.

Love all of Dan’s documentaries and this podcast does not disappoint!

    Quibble
I find your commercials at the beginning of your podcast irritating. Why should I listen to commercials just so you can make money? Not listen to your expert to quibble about words like what is or is not civilization. This whole woke generation of so-called scholars is irritating. Pretending to be about truth and science and knowledge and yet definitely not making any sort of value judgment according to the standards that exist today. It’s irritating and not worth listening to.

    Very Informative
I am a big fan of Dan Snow. I enjoy listening to his History Hit podcast. I am also a subscriber to the History Hit channel. Dan’s podcast is informative and concise.

But a tryhard host. Oh and also: NO ONE CAME HERE TO HEAR ABOUT ASSASSINS CREED, SHILLS!

    Great Podcast
New to this podcast and I love it. I appreciate all of the different topics, not my high school history class. I also enjoy the tie-in with books. Love to listen to Dan as I sew, garden, cook, and relax. Thanks for an informative and interesting program.

Great History Podcast for a Liberal
Dan’s History Hit is a great podcast. However, be aware he has a lot of uninformed biased content that tends to lean to the politically hard left. He would be my favorite podcaster if he would be more moderate. His (TDS) Trump Derangement Syndrome is obvious - if you listen to older podcast you can analyze his predictions/prejudices and see how far astray it has led him.

Great topics, the sound quality could be better
One of my fav podcasts, but volume levels can be way off between Dan and the guest, and sometimes Dan’s voice volume varies too much. Good example is towards the end of episode 2 of the English Civil War. Dan please look into it. Still 5 stars.

    Excellent Pod
An excellent pod on history of all sorts, easy to listen to, informative without boring lectures, moves along and is an excellent host. Nice voice, nice guests.

NPR vibe underscored with Global Socialist belief.
Dan Snow is the Ambassador of the Electoral Reform Society (ERS) which is associated with Blackstone, BlackRock, World Economic Forum (WEF), etc. He sounds like a nice guy representing some of the world’s most notorious… Buyer beware.

A must-listen, every episode. Only one pedantic, minor exception. 😀
This is such an excellent podcast, head and shoulders above any competition. My only minor gripe was with the episode on Auschwitz commandant, Rudolf Höss. The guest - who wrote a book on the subject - made several elementary errors, and I cannot explain why. He’s not a German speaker (too many basic words pronounced incorrectly), describes Mannheim as “a small town” (so never been there, and it’s population even in 1910 was 200,000), and Höss was never a teenage officer in WWI but rather a teenage NCO. Again, a minor gripe concerning points that would attract the notice of almost no one. I look forward very much to future episodes.

    Engaging and diverse
I love the variety of topics covered in this series, as well as the passion that is obviously there for Dan Snow and all his guests. Has quickly become a top listen for me.

    Thank You
Thank you for mentioning how the inequalities in the United States healthcare system impact HIV treatment and prevention. We die from cancer, mental health, bladder infections, colds. The working poor/ working class are dying here. It’s genocide. Our politicians allow it. Our system is corrupt. We aren’t allowed to organize to change it. Just want to make sure the world knows.

The episode about Portugal and Vasca da Gama was fantastic. Love the show overall and especially episodes like this one when it’s just Dan presenting. Lots of excellent guests but “Danologues” are always my favorite. Robust and remarkable details described in ways that make you feel like you’re in the midst of the stories. How do you do it Dan? I could just squeeze your cheeks…

Thank You to Dan Snow & his Talented Team Mates for this Amazing Podcast!
History Hit provides informational podcasts related to diverse aspects of human history, ranging from periods of ancient, to medieval to more modern. Each distills historical, factual information into accessible episodes covering a range of important events & times in history. I am currently listening to the excellent series on D Day & find it truly fascinating! I am grateful for its depth & breadth, & especially its inclusion of the personal stories of those who were there! Thank you to the many who make the history podcasts excellent!

    Laughable
You lose all credibility when your guest on fascism is rachel maddow. You couldn’t pick someone less credible if you tried.

    Host is beyond hope
British guy, his country is an open cesspool beyond repair and yet he wants to lecture about America's politcal system. Yea, as if we'd listen to you, keep your stupid opinions to yourself, you and your country is an embarrassment. Rachel Maddow as a guest ?! Unsubscribed.

    So disappointing…
Generally a decent show, I don’t listen to every episode; that being said, the Harris/Trump episode was soooo blatantly political and staged I almost threw up. There is a place for Left and Right political bias to exist, in fact whole podcast series are created around one side or the other. A History podcast should have no space for outrageous clichés peddling one politician over another. I was prepared to hear a historian put an interesting spin on the earth-shattering events of the last month… instead Dan Snow took the mask off and revealed to the world that he is just another tool manipulating reality. Unless there’s some kind of balancing episode in the next week from another perspective, I’ll be deleting this and possibly other ‘History Hit’ podcasts. Stick to what you say you are, don’t pretend. We are all tired of the lies. Edit: as expected, no balancing episode dropped to alleviate the extreme bias pushed in the Harris vs Trump episode. Unsubscribed.

    Slow it down!
Fantastic show but host and guests speech are sped up so much in production that podcasts can be difficult to parse and follow. Imitators of the “chipmunk” style of History Hit are starting to proliferate. Please, slow it down.

Top research, presentation, and pleasant voice
Exceptionally well researched and presented episodes about aspects of history I often know little or nothing about, but which affect our modern lives. A joy to listen to.

    Free trial is too short
Most podcasts I’ve tried have at least a 1 week trial. This is only 3 days (I thought it was 7 days).

The very best in both the learning and pleasure of hidtory
Dan has the very best combination of deep knowledge and almost school kid passion for history in all its era and forms I’ve ever known. Whenever I want to lose myself and learn at the same time, History Hit is where I go. Thank you for all you do to keep the importance and joy of history alive, Dan. From a fellow North American-UK dual citizen currently joining you from North Carolina.

Masterful Storytelling by a Wonderful Historian!
Chapeau to Dan Snow! I’m a long time listener that has appreciated and enjoyed so many of his podcasts but the recent accounts of the men and stories of Endurance are superb! Shackleton of course, but finally honoring the men behind the headlines, Tom Crean is truly a man’s man. Born without advantage but always stepping forward placing his own safety behind his teammates. History is more than the shiny wrapper, peeling back the layers gives such a deeper understanding of what it was really like, thanks Dan Snow. More Please!

    Engaging and Informative!
What a delightful podcast! I enjoy a good deep dive into some of history’s most under-appreciated stories. I especially loved hearing about Boudica! Dr. Gillespie really brought her story to life in a knowledgeable and engaging way! I hope there will be more academic women on the show!
  • MsCraftyPaula
    Excellent! Fun!
The subjects are wide-ranging, and Dan’s incisive questions are enhanced by his friendly enthusiasm.

Love this no-nonsense and informative podcast by Dan Snow
I love the fact that there’s no gratuitous music, forced cackling and lame attempts at humor. His selection of guests is almost unfailingly brilliant. My only suggestion is to please be sure that each guest – regardless of his or her expertise – also speaks in a loud and distinct voice. Otherwise their command of the topic risks being wasted and the listener is left frustrated. Please keep up the good work.

    Incredible storytelling
I sat in the parking lot of my office building compelled to finish the Battle of Britain episodes. Incredible. I’m an American and I sat with tears in my eyes listening to the stories of these courageous and defiant British men and women who risked their lives so willingly. Inspirational is a vast understatement. Dan snow presents Storytelling at its absolute best!

Vs empire or rest is history
Unfortunately the enthusiasm and slightly smarmy repartee ( more akin to an Italian waiter) don’t translate to incisive analytics. This is red brick at best vs oxbridge. Good for nursing homes

    History please.
Aw man, I look to history podcasts as a distraction from contemporary political silliness. It’s a shame this one is sliding into the fray. Do people really buy the fear mongering by Rhodes? Were Democratic primary voters “relieved” by the party bosses’ decision to override them? “This is the most important election of our lives!” Etc. bummer.
  • Carlota1800
    History not Politics, please
With the exception of the Obama acolyte, (will you interview someone from the Trump universe for balance?), this is an excellent program. Dan is informative as well as engaging. I also love the opening of the program with its sound and music touching upon some momentous points in history. Thank you, Dan.

    Unfortunately Biased
I was enjoying this podcast immensely until the episode with Ben Rhodes as a guest. The episode Harris vs Trump was extremely biased painting the democrats party as saints and republicans as uninformed MAGA extremists. I am an independent and could clearly see through it. Shame on you. Educating listeners about history should not include your political opinions and misinformation.

    Harris v Trump
So we have a huge left wing bias to this episode. Sweeping statements and generalizations are not what history pods should consist of

    Thank You!
I have been “binge” listening to History Hit for the last few days (Music Unlimited Ad-Free) and each episode has been great. Great History podcasts like History Hit will be a gateway for younger generations to learn their history because it is very important to know and maybe understand to see how and why we got to where we “locusts” are at now. The best episodes are the ones with leading World War I
