zpicLater history neededYou got us so far and then - no more ! It’s a great podcast but a bit too myth-oriented for me . My mind wanders off I have been fascinated with this country for over 40 years and yet I mostly know Raj history .

jwallmizzouTop tier podcast; wish he would come back!I’m a serial history podcast listener. In fact, I’ve compiled a playlist of history podcasts in chronological order, beginning with the creation of the universe and moving chronologically through time around the world. If interested, you can find the playlists on Spotify, just search for “jwallmizzou” Of course, Kit’s History of India features heavily in the playlists. His is, by far, the best history of India pod. He really does a good job. My only criticism is that he is a little story heavy. He gets sidetracked by ancient Indian stories, but they’re usually good ones and he’s a fantastic story teller so I’ll allow it. But back to the point. Kit’s podcast begins in the time of Buddha circa 500 BCE, covers the Maurya Empire, the Kushans, Guptas, Harsha, and the early medieval tripartite struggle for Kannauj. He does it in a very unique, entertaining way. BUT…he’s stopped. The last episode covered the 10th century, just before the Turkic invasions of Mahmud Ghazni began. I would absolutely LOVE to hear Kit’s take on the Turkic invasions, the Cholas and Chalukyas, Vijayanagara Empire, Delhi Sultanate, the coming of the Europeans, etc. Right now, this podcast could be called “The History of Ancient India Podcast.” So Kit, if you read these, PLEASE CONTINUE! The pod is excellent. Ranked in my top tier, and I’ve listened to many, many history pods.

Lotus_2Great podcast!Thank you for making the history of my country so interesting! I wish you were there when I was learning history at school ( it was so boring!). I can sense your love and respect for our history.

JB94083Mis-named pod castThis is not The History of India. This is a collection of rambling mostly antidotal tales about India’s past. I went through this for 90 days, hoping that today would be the day that he starts using dates to apply some cause and effect, or failing that, he would just move about India region by region or empire by empire in serial order…never happened. I enjoyed his presentations, he has the makings of a good podcaster, but he is not a historian, nor is this a history.

Just hilariousConvoluted MazeHad the great opportunity of visiting India just prior to the COVID pandemic. Giving this podcast an opportunity to unwind the complex histories that make up the vast and various areas of India. This may take a while....

Mayank uniqueWonderful podcastIt’s been enlightening to familiarize with history again after drudging through oh my god boring in school. And love the creators effort to be neutral and sympathetic unlike earlier historians. The direct from source is such an amazing device to learn about the priorities of people in those days. My main grouse is the rigid view of religion in India that the narrator has. Religion in India has always been much more fluid, alive and dominated by personalities and the structure is wholly different than the church dominated hierarchy of the west. This loses a lot of nuances of religio-political aspect of history which is a significant aspect of India’s story.

NambiandanFact checkVenkateshwra supbrabatham is not part of the Vedic corpus, it was composed in the 15th century by Anantacharya. So, please do a favor and fact check; not anything that’s composed in Sanskrit is part of Vedic corpus nor it’s ancient.

Sri SarmaWonderful!I’m generally very skeptical of histories of ancient India because of how many agendas there are about the subcontinent’s past, left, right or centre. This podcast has so far been an absolute destroyer of my skepticism. Kit Patrick’s generous and respectful inclusion of original sources means we’re actually hearing the voices of Ancient Indians in a way we don’t usually. His heavy accent sometimes makes it hard for me to understand what the Sanskrit word he’s speaking (e.g., for the longest time I heard ‘Maukhari’ as ‘Malkari’), but nobody is perfect and this is as close to perfect as anyone’s gotten. And I love the music as much as I love the content!

Kris5385Kit Patrick is the best !I am a history buff. I have listened to a lot of history podcasts on topics ranging from Rome and Britain to China. This is by far the best podcast. Kit Patrick’s love for Indian history is apparent. His knowledge is complemented by a really fun and likeable personality. Kit rocks!

D.r.BakerBest History PodcastAs a fan of History of Rome, Hardcore History, Common Sense, and History of Philosophy Without Any Gaps, this is by far the best. The scope, sequence, length, and depth are perfect for an introduction to this vital source culture

BadcoldItna accha haiThis podcast is full of the high quality history more people in the West should be listening to.
-
YipeeKaiYayExcellent history podcastA topic that many Americans could learn more about - including myself, an ABCD. But beyond the topic the narrative is organized but still has enough tangents so that it's not just a list of kings - he brings the history alive A GREAT podcast

Nikhil Tiger Blood SharmaPerfect balance of detail and narrativeJust discovered this podcast, and I'm really enjoying it. Right balance of detail and broad narrative to be engaging. Really hope this podcast continues and covers different aspects of Indian history
-
PeterezgoVery InterestingI have listened to the history of Rome and various other history podcasts. I consider this a good addition to them. I don't really know that much about Indian history so I find all of this quite interesting.
-
KevinICdesignerFascinating History!Well presented and full of interesting information. The musical mixing is simple, but probably the best integrated of any podcast I've listened to. Keep it up. I'm hooked! And might I add, delightfully voiced!
-
CFAuserExcellent series on Indian historyLoved the series so far, and hope it continues. A couple of suggestions would be great-if it could go into the history of regions (Bangladesh/Bengal, etc) and more references were made to dates in the narrative
-
thereallucasCheck it out!Hands-down my current favorite podcast that isn't my own. Lol! I especially appreciate the conversational style. Unlike so many other history podcasts (including those award-winning ones), the author makes it seem as if we're discussing the topic over lunch. He has a gift for storytelling.
-
VeenaVGOne of the best podcasts about Indian history I have ever heard.Impartial and well-researched. I really enjoy the podcast and look forward to the uploads.

DanUrbachReally goodThis is a really good podcast. The presenter is very well organized and engaging. He has begun by focusing on a specific, historically significant site in India, and expands upon it in a very clever way, making the material really approachable. One of the best history podcasts around, and I’m very grateful for an excellent one on the history of India. Hope he keeps going for a long time.
-
peeps!A great new history podcastThis podcast benefits from the host’s relaxed and wry delivery, and weaves together narratives from ancient India with information about the social and political circumstances that produced those narratives. The idea of ending episodes with a brief quotation from an ancient Indian text is also a good one. Highly recommended.

Classical neurobiologistGreat content! Thanks for making these, Kit - it’s great to basically get audiobooks on Sanskrit literature. It’s good stuff! Check out Philosophindia if you get a chance - there are more episodes on the way.
