    New favorite!
This podcast is fantastic. The host is engaging and knowledgeable, the topics are interesting, there’s a great selection of guests with wide-ranging expertise— highly recommended for anyone with any interest in space (or who is open to becoming interested!) who wants an accessible way to learn more.

    A favorite podcast!
I try not to miss an episode. Always interesting and always reminds me of how much I love space exploration since my childhood so many years ago. I remember hearing Sputnik live as a kid in my elementary school science class.

I really like the show, but…
I really love the show, but… I fast forward thru the drink segment. I love you for your mind, not for your beverages.

Best Podcast about all things Space!
I am a planetary scientist and SPACEPOD has been my go-to podcast for Astronomy and Planetary Sciences since I was a graduate student. It is the perfect podcast to inform of new and upcoming astronomy and planetary science. I cannot recommend it enough!

If you like space, and want to get smarter, this is the podcast
Great guests, informative interviewer, and interesting topics. A World class combination. My only complaint is that there are too few episodes.
  • the n1ghthawk
    Powerful and insightful!
This podcast is ideal for the space enthusiast. “Insiders” share their personal and professional insights on their piece if the space puzzle. I anxiously wait for each new episode. Subscribe and you will too! Grab your favorite special drink and join in!

    Fantastic conversations kept simple enough
I like the assortment and relatively short lengths of the episodes. Not that I don’t want to learn more but rather than spoon feed it’s a little more teaching to fish. Carrie is awesome and sent me stickers!

A great window into space exploration!
As a space enthusiast with no professional connection to space science, I love how accessible this podcast is. Carrie is such a knowledgeable host and asks great questions. I love hearing about all the different people involved in exploring the cosmos. The length of the episodes is very manageable, and it’s a very bingeable pod as well. I will also add that Carrie was very responsive to an email request I sent her several years ago! Thanks for a great podcast.

    Great space vibes
Love the enthusiastic interview style. Makes me want to go back to school to study astronomy.

Space - such a vast subject
Space is a vast subject, in every way imaginable - I can't imagine anying bigger :) Carries' format of talking with experts in various aspects of space, and getting them to synthesize a lifetime of research into 20 minutes of talk helps to both give you an idea of all these disparate fields, and the certainty that you haven't even scratched the surface.
  • Sh4rqi
    Go-to source for current astronomy
Love this show for so many reasons. First, Dr. Nugent is a terrific educator who knows how to talk with her scientific colleagues on their level, and with the legitimacy of a fellow scientist. Crucially, though, she’s also brilliant at keeping the conversation understandable to the lay listener. Second, she knows how to steer the conversation toward engaging angles. I remember her conversation with a scientist who studies dust on asteroids and I thought ho-hum dust big deal. By the end though I was open-eyed thinking wait a second, dust levitates because of static electricity?? Crazy! I teach high school physics and astronomy. I have to teach the basics, but I need to keep things current. One thing I’m trying to get better at is introducing open questions, talking with students about actual science, you know, things we DONT understand and that are not in text books. I love listening to spacepod because it helps me collect up interesting tidbits of mystery that are active subjects of research as described by researchers themselves instead of interpreted and jazzified by journalists.

    Good interviews
If you’re interested in space, Carrie is a lovely host.

    Like the variety of guests
Carrie gets a wide variety of guests, people you are not likely to hear anywhere else. It’s great when they do a deep dive into that person’s work. I think it’s hard to set the level correctly for this kind of show, but she tries. In my opinion, it could be improved by setting ir a bit higher.

Look forward to this every time a new episode drops
This is a great podcast for space, astronomy and even general science lovers The host’s demeanor is very pleasing and the beverage taste test at the beginning of each episode is a fun twist

    I like space
Quite an enjoyable podcast for those of us who like space stuff. A solid addition to my space-cast playlist. Approachable for the casual interested in space and in depth enough to keep more veteran space nerds happy. I’m pretty picky on what I listen to and this show has survived my taste test.
  • brookshank
    wonderful podcast
really good. just try it. go ahead. wide ranging discussions delivered in a fun way. this is not an in depth heavy podcast, but it is a very good survey of what’s happening in this space delivered through interviews with researchers who are doing the work *now*. easily digested by anyone.. check it out.

Intelligent subject matter presented in a highly relatable way
I’ve been a listener for years, first time reviewer. Dr Nugent, Carrie, Dr Carrie - I don’t even know whether to use all the honorifics because I don’t feel like I’m attending a lecture when I turn on this podcast. It’s more like having that really smart friend who’s unabashedly passionate about geeking out about her work and who invites you to conversations with her work colleagues as they do the same. And they’re all doing cutting edge research in astronomy, astrophysics, planetary science, the list goes on. Plus, she’s willing to take some chances at the front end of the show to try out whatever oddball drinks she can find on the obscure shelves of her local food stores. Gotta admire the risk taking.

Easy listening for the latest in astronomy
I'm an avid podcast subscriber, particularly in the realm of science-related content, with a subscription to around 50 shows. Among this extensive list, Spacepod is a gem that I eagerly anticipate in my feed. What sets it apart is the engaging host, Dr. Carrie Nugent, who consistently brings in fascinating guests and conducts conversations that feel like the sort of engaging discussions you'd love to have if given the opportunity to learn more about these experts. Spacepod isn't just another science podcast; it's a window into the minds of experts in a way that's both insightful and relatable. It consistently ranks high on my playlist and is a must-listen for science enthusiasts.

Incredible podcast stop reading go listen
What are we doing here folks? This is hands down one of the best podcasts to use as a spring board to dive into any astronomical topic. Wide range of guests, deep breadth of disciplines, hugely personal insights. Deltron 3030 even shows up! Interesting, intriguing, and entertaining. 10/10 would Spacepod again. Now grab and interesting beverage, stop reading and go listen!

Thoroughly enjoyable regardless of the subject covered. Dr. Nugent is engaging, enlightening and makes astronomy and space science accessible to anyone who cares to listen.

Just the right level of depth
I've been loving this podcast as a regular dose of science in another field. It also has a couple gimmick segments to get to know the experts she's talking to, I love that!
  • Crouchingtabby
    Excellent!
This is a wonderful podcast that lets us hear from astronomers about the exciting work they are doing. The show has a very conversational feel, and it’s great that we learn not only about new discoveries, but also about the people making those discoveries. I sometimes listen to the show with my young daughter. A while back she had some questions for Carrie, who not only answered, but took the time to mail my daughter some cool nasa stickers along with some fun asteroid info. Love the show :)

    Great astronomy / space podcast
With its reasonable episode release schedule and interesting guests it adds a unique and perfect amount of astronomy / space info to my podcast feed.

    Yet another one
I’ve been searching for an Astronomy/Space podcast that doesn’t assume the listener is an idiot. I KNOW what an AU is, I KNOW the difference between cosmology and cosmetology, I KNOW how Astronomy and Astrology are different, I certainly don’t need your guest to explain the difference between the Universe and the Galaxy. This podcast is NOT what I’ve been searching for. Is it too much to ask?
  • MKULTRA83
    Podcast about drinks?
Great show, but starting with the whole drinks thing is kind of annoying. I’d suggest doing that segment in the middle or end of the show, or even better leave it out completely. Everything else is okay, other than the fact these academics are so disconnected from reality and exploitative. Take it from someone who has deal with them on a daily basis in the Boston area.
  • House_Husband
    Terrific Podcast
I have learned so much from these podcasts. Carrie has the best guests and she always adds to the show by simplifying, when necessary some of the astronomy concepts so everyone at every level gets a concise understanding of the topic. All this and humor to boot. Love the crazy drinks icebreaker. Carrie your simply the best!!
  • Docduracoat
    Love it
Great show , has a cute hook we learn something about the scientist at the end.
  • mdmaggio
    Excellent
So many podcasts or space / astronomy coverage gives you the topical information or sugar coated stories. I wanted a podcast that gave you the hardcore science and this one produces. I did not choose astronomy as a profession but it has always been a passion of mine and this podcast allows me to explore that in a way I wouldn’t be able to otherwise.

    Good stuff
I have many in my feed but I listen to this first.
  • arlothehero
This podcast fuels my art practice.
One of my favorite things to do is binge listen podcasts while I’m working on art in my studio. Spacepod is always my top choice because, I know nothing about astronomy and listening completely captures my curious, conscious brain. Meanwhile, my creative subconscious brain is free to roam. I end up hitting pause often to jot down new ideas or solutions to conceptual and technical problems that usually have nothing to do with space. Additionally, I am so into the community Carrie is building around this podcast and the mass of information being made available to non-scientists like me. Her warmth and friendly demeanor makes the whole thing that much more enjoyable. Thanks for enhancing my art practice Carrie! 🪐💙☄️

    Just what I needed.
Each episode is neither a brief sound bite or a full blown course, but lasts just under half an hour. The host and guest trust that you’re actually interested in space and get to the point instead of engaging in excruciating off-topic banter to “humanize” science.
  • Ralph_MB
Real Astronomers Talking Tech But Easy to Understand
Real astronomers, engineers, physicists, and other scientists discussing their work in terms that the public can follow. I enjoy some of the details, like astronomers needing to know programming so that they can do image analysis, or the automated fault protection and correction work that went into the Cassini Probe. Very easy to listen to and follow.

    Wonderfully refreshing
So quirky, fun, and fascinating! I love the fast pace and frank nature of the conversations, and the questions asked and answers given are always eloquent and sincere. I love special effects and high budget sounds in other styles of podcasts, but sometimes it’s just so refreshing to listen to these awesome folks have a conversation about what they love. The drinks in the beginning are also a brilliant way to add some humanity to what could be a dry and lifeless subject. All in all this is a must listen for anyone who enjoys learning and has a mind for space!
  • Tawhitejr
    Smorgasbord of topics!!!
Covers many, many cool topics, with frank discussions of the real life, day to day efforts it takes to do new research. Research trips to Antartica! Trips to tops of mountains, or huge test facilities !! All with great, fun and funny interviews!!

Fantastic podcast for novice or enthusiast
Dr. Nugent does an incredible job keeping the podcast light and entertaining enough for space novices to keep up and enjoy but also contains deeply interesting info that space enthusiasts can appreciate. Easily my favorite podcast.

    Interesting Easy Listening
This is a fun podcast to listen to. I find that Carrie does a good job of explaining the topics that are very complex into and an easy listening format that leaves me with a basic understanding/overview of the topic.

    Perfect for a regular guy
I have always enjoyed studying the stars on camping and backpacking trips. Eventually getting a Newtonian scope for backyard viewing. This podcast allows me to get a glimpse into the stuff that the real scientists are discovering. All in peanut butter and jelly terms. I loved the book as well keep up the good work.

Interesting, educational, and hilarious. This is a real gem; if you care about space or science at all, stop reading this review and start listening to this podcast instead.

    Stellar fount of knowledge
Every episode reveals a unique nugget of information that reveals a bit more about this amazing universe of ours. The audio quality is good and the length of the pod cast is perfect for keeping attention.

Citizen science historian (with a bullhorn)
Outstanding curation. I sought a ‘cutting edge’ astronomy cast after reading the book ‘Great Astronomers. A 1000 Year History Of Astronomy”. The detail and passion of participants and host very much keep the spirit of the science and help make it accessible to all. Thank you so much for your dedication to the craft!

Great topics, fun & informative podcast!
Thank you Carrie for your cool podcast! I love listening to it as I run errands. I alway feel smarter after listening. And the unusual drinks add a special touch!

    good (look at the) heavens!
Still loving SpacePod! I've listened to every episode. It's out of this world. :-) Recommended drink for an upcoming show: Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier, which I can't pronounce correctly but is really good beer! As a priest and pastor, the folks in my parish are used to hearing references to space and space exploration in my homilies. Spacepod is helping make sure they are more accurate than before! But as a Jesuit who has members of my community who work as astronomers, Spacepod is what I listen to just for fun and to be awed by the cosmos...
