CrossBread — A Comedy Musical

147

Twin brother and sister Josh and Joan Burns formed CrossBread, the hugely successful Christian Rap duo from Boronia in Melbourne's outer suburbs back in 2015. The band briefly lit up GodTube in Australia and became Christian hip-hop superstars, with hits such as "It’s Just Jesus" and "A Christian on a Mission (ain’t a Christian to be dissin’)". Over six episodes, their former social media manager, Ken Lim, will dig into the archives to trace their origins working in a donut shop, why it all fell apart so quickly, and their biggest regrets — like why a brother and sister would name their band "CrossBread". The Bible might be the greatest story ever told. But this could easily be the second or third best.

    100,000 stars!!!
Creative and sharp. CrossBread is possibly the funniest play on religion I’ve experienced in any form of media. The music is amazing, the lyrics had me choking with laughter. My favorite fiction podcast of all time.

Easily, the funniest podcast I’ve ever heard.
And I’m not saying that lightly. Every single episode had me laughing so hard tears came to my eyes.

    Absolutely Hilarious!
Loved the irreverence and raps. An original story.

    Seem funny
This podcast reminds me of South Park Season 7 Episode 9, Christian Rock Hard. Similar concept. I tried listening to this podcast but that growing up Christian/Catholic, although not currently practicing, I felt guilty. It’s a parody but it felt like a mockery. Ahh, I feel like a fuddy-duddy for feeling that way but what can one do. Too bad, seems funny!

    This is a good one
I was laughing through every episode. Extremely well-acted and written. You must listen!

    Delightful and rich
Spend a couple of hours and check this one out. It’s funny, and the characters are well defined and varied. Even though I’m not a Christian, I like that it’s not really making fun of people who are. There are good characters (and annoying ones) on either side of the baptismal pool.

    Beautiful!
I could smell Best in Show and This Is Spinal Tap while listening. This would be a great movie. So Fugging funny. Not enough content is my only critique!

    Fast paced. Funny.
Quick paced, short episodes. A few laugh out loud moments. Good cast. Can imagine the cogs turning as they wrote this parody ;o)

    Made me laugh
The last couple of episodes weren’t as funny, but still a great podcast and well worth the time.

Not sure if this is for me
I’m not a Christian and living in the US I sure as hell don't need more Christianity shoved down my throat. I dipped a toe in and ran away. Like with most podcasts, people who don't like it don't stick around and give a review. Something like what wiggy6789 wrote, telling us we're not right if we're not listening is exceptionally unhelpful and offensive. It's not a review. I do my best to review podcasts I dislike because they aren't all good.

    Get yourself Cross-fit
These guys get it. Amid an ocean of vapid and derivative dross, CrossBread is an island of edgy and provocative content that we need to stir proper conversations that advance discourse beyond the insta-feud toxic miasma of social media. And to also have a fkg laugh mate. Well done guys and girl.

    Fun! Not a typical podcast.
Just a fun listen. The episodes are short but the content is rich. Thumbs up!

    You might miss it
The singing is actually good. It’s not central to the story but these people are really great. You sorta need a visual performance to drive it home, so you’ll have to use your imagination to appreciate just how good the music is
