At times it sounds like they never watched the film and just read the Wiki page for the movie. Simple plot points fly by them and they go on to mock the films for not spoon feeding them information most people would pick up on. And the hipster attitude of co-host "Stuart In LA" (come on. get a less obnoxious nickname) makes some episodes unlistenable. The early episodes were great, avoide anything from the last two years. And the constant begging for donations? Knock it off. You should only do that once a year at most.

I'll admit as a long-time, avid NPP fan when I heard Now Playing was doing a year and longer worth of Marvel themed stuff, I wasn't all that enthused. However, as always, these guys deliver good content even when the movies fail so miserably. This series is really fun because of all the behind the scenes stuff the guys talk about in terms of development for these films. It's worth a listen even if just passing the time while working the desk like me. So, I give this series a "Recommend."

What separates these reviews from other critics in general is A: the hindsight eye and B: the differing viewpoints. All three guys, Stewart, Brock and Arnie bring their own unique perspective to every podcast and it makes for excellent banter that I can't get enough of. Even when I disagree with their final analysis, I still respect it. Unlike other movie reviewers who usually review the film from a surface perspective, Now Playing breaks every movie down and examines the reasons why a movie works and why it doesn't. Critiquing is a subjective business, there's no debating that. One man's masterpiece is another man's hunk of poo, but I personally think Now Playing is the best source for finding educated reviews and analysis of past franchises that you truly can't get anywhere else. I've been a big fan from the very beginning and plan to keep donating whenever I have the cash! Blade is a great retrospective, not only because it's a series that I grew up with and saw every one in theaters, but because Stew, Brock and Arnie's ongoing speculation that Snipes was under-characterized throughout all three films was something I never realized before and looking back now, I completely agree. I thought the Blade series was one of the most solid franchises Marvel had, but after listening to their retrospective, I was able to see some flaws in it I never realized before! Frost really is a puny match compared to Blade. I used to think Blade II was one of the best sequels, ever. Now I'm thinking it would be a great stand alone movie without Blade. and Blade III is kind of a mess. I think I knew that from the very beginning when I saw it in the theaters, But I agree with Arnie, it's still very enjoyable if you turn your brain off. Blade III is truly a hoot to listen to, especially all their riffs on the terrible choice of casting Purcell as "Drake". Great Stuff. I recommend this podcast to anyone who likes Blade and anyone who just loves listening to guys' witty banter. That's the best part of Now Playing, imao.

I love this podcast in general, but as a horror fan, it's always good to see these return to talking comics. High, High, recommend!
