ZDF is a state run broadcaster from Germany and as such tasked to provide fair and balanced reporting. The heute journal (in German) is a daily summary of the day’s news, interspersed with in-depth reporting on several topics. New reporting and opinion is carefully segregated, a “commentary” is clearly announced as such. While Germany centric (naturally) it also proved commentary on world events that is refreshing and un-biased. A 4 min segment on US news may summarize a whole day of 24hr wall-to-wall reporting from a US outlet, while providing more actual information too. Highly recommended!
