The Hidden Institute

47

Rising above your station can be deadly. Cliffy is a child born on the streets of a Neo-Victorian world. Witnesses to a murder, he blackmails a nobleman, receiving a unique bribe. In exchange for his silence, the nobleman introduces him to the Malcolm Rutherford Holden Institute of Regentrification. There, Cliffy learns to walk, talk, and act like a nobleman, so that he may infiltrate high society. But that type of fraud is punishable by death, and when Cliffy uncovers a plot to assassinate a head of state, he's hunted by more than just the aristocracy. Royal intrigue, daring escapes, sub-dermal machines, and bear polo. A grand adventure in a not-so-distant world.

    Excellent
I downloaded this podcast at the recommendation of a friend. Even just reading the description on the main page made me excited, and the podcast did not disappoint. The story pulled me in immediately, with well developed characters and a fun and interesting plot. Brand Gamblin also does a good job reading his story, making each character easy to identify without overdoing it. I would recommend this to anyone.

    Great listen
Well written story and very well read. The characters voices are distinct, and are easily distinguished from one another.

    Thoroughly enjoyable.
Interesting world and a nice tension between technology and society. I felt the love interest came a little too easily, and the ending was slightly cheesy, but overall it’s a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

    Highly Recommend
I downloaded this novel before taking a long car trip and it not only kept me awake and interested but I did not want the trip to end. When I reached my destination before the end of the book I did not want to put the ipod down. Great character development, I loved learning the background details of the world while watching the story unfold. Good narration and pacing. Quite enjoyable to listen to. I was almost put off by some violence at the beginning of the story but it is worth it to keep going and see what became of the characters. My thanks for many hours of enjoyment from a gifted storyteller.

    Superb
Grade-A audiobook in every way. Fresh, engaging storyline that picks up right away, likable characters, some good plot turns, and a satisfying ending. The author really connects you with the characters and setting, and that bumps a good story to a great one. Production values are top notch as well. Author has a clear, dynamic voice, volume level is perfectly consistent through the whole book, and no annoying recaps/chit chat to pad out the episodes. Highly recommended...a new gem in the iTunes ranks. I look forward to more from this author.
