    Lebron James
Love Larry’s show but as a life long LA resident and Laker fan I HATE Lebron James as a Laker and hate how much he is a Laker. True fans wouldn’t accept him. Good to know Larry is a settler

I missed Larry when the Nightly Show left the air and I’m so happy to find this podcast! He is so thoughtful and knowledgeable. Oh… and funny! 🥰

    I Took Notes
Larry’s interviews with Bakari Sellers and Cord Jefferson were wonderful. I became a subscriber. Once I listened to the Tiffany Cross interview (and ‘therapy session’— listen and you will understand) I had to listen to it a second time to take notes. Wonderful interview. I agree with a previous reviewer’s idea. Tiffany and Larry should collaborate via podcast on a recurring basis.

    Fantastic conversationalist
Black on the Air continues to be such an entertaining show. I just finished listening to the Tiffany Cross interview and it was such a delightful and warm episode. A true meeting of two curious minds with differing yet complimentary perspectives. I hope that you and Tiffany can work on a project together.

    Love ! Love the show
You are so knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to you. I think I first saw you on different shows & on Bill Maher. You are one of my favorites. Love your spirit. Thank you for sharing

    Love the show
… but it really needs an editor. Larry’s gifts and his presence as an interviewer are not being well-served. Removing the pickups and the stammering would make the pod amazing! Good editing makes a HUGE difference.

    Wonderful show
I don’t listen as often as I should. It’s always fantastic, but an hour is longer than my commute time. I can’t just sit in the car and finish the episode, can I? (Just kidding). The interviews are always interesting and are not centered on one polemic viewpoint. The host honestly wants to hear his guest’s view of the world.

    APOCALYPTO!!!
Oh my goodness THAT was the best movie Mel Gibson ever made! When Larry referenced it, I wanted to jump through my phone (like The Matrix! 😂) The Film Festival episode was great! I LOVE movies! Period! Keep up the great 👍🏽 podcast !!!

Very good conversation with Sally Jenkins for the most part
Great interview with Sally Jenkins. The stories about athletes, performance, and the connection between the body and mind were endlessly fascinating. I look forward to reading the book. However, the comments about Dak Prescot, Naomi Osaka and other athletes regarding triggers and suggesting they’re an optional experience were ignorant and incredibly insensitive. Suffering from a trigger is not choice. It’s a stimulus that occurs in real time for the sufferer. Triggers originate in the body, then affect the mind. Folks who do understand triggers are more fortunate that their upbringing was not rife with excessive struggle, abuse, or deprivation. I would expect a seasoned journalist like Sally Jenkins to have educated herself on the topic. I also would expect Larry to understand the concept better as well. Older generations of athletes suffered from triggers; their issues were never identified as such. Think of all the athletes who died prematurely from addiction, or chronic poor decision making. We should all be fortunate that modern psychology has evolved to recognize triggers and to name it.

    Never steered me wrong
I have been a fan of Larry Wilmore since the daily show, then the nightly show and many of television shows he has written for. The before said anytime on this podcast when he interviews a guest with a series, movie, play, book, podcast, his recommendations are right on. My world is changed for the better.

    Love this podcast
I’ve been a fan since his Daily Show days. I love it that he’s about my age, so our memories of world events and people sync up nicely. Witty, pointed, fun, informative, and a voice I’d listen to for any purpose. 🥰

Hi Larry, love your podcast, listen all the time. On your recent podcast, I was so glad to hear you mention the PBS show “SOUL”. That was at the time, when we were starved for Black media. It’s the show that introduced me to Earth Wind & Fire! It was unapologetically black, even back then.

Just wanna say that LADY SINGS THE BLUES was released in 1972. Diana Ross was nominated for an Oscar in 1973. That’s 50 years ago.

So cool. So smart. So wise. So interesting.
Larry does and has it all. Podcast now part of my life. Thanks, Larry. Muy suave!

    Larry is the best
Larry is the best interviewer out there! He’s able to add his own personal stories and insights without detracting from the interview and always focuses on the subject at hand without making it all about him. It’s a fine line to straddle, and Larry does it expertly. He also seems non-judgmental and open hearted. I can’t wait for more episodes. Interview literally everyone on earth, Larry! You’ll make it great no matter what.

I loved Larry on Comedy Central and when I heard he wrote on the Bernie Mack and other shows it made me like him all the more. His podcast is interesting and lighthearted, yet done in a way that makes you think more deeply about a subject. He is a master of his craft. I love this podcast and look forward to listening to it every weekend.

We need more Larry in the world!
When Larry’s late night show was cancelled, I was devastated! His genuine, empathetic, thoughtful, and thought-provoking approach to current events is something our society needs a lot more of. So happy to have found this podcast - I love to listen!

    One of my favorites
Love Larry. I was a big fan of his TV show, so when it was canceled I was happy to see that he has a podcast. He usually starts the show with commentary about current events, which I love. Then he will interview someone. Nice variety of guests, all interesting. I enjoy his sense of humor and always interested to hear his thoughts. Keep them coming..

Black on the Air -James Burrows
Mr. Wilmore I usually find your comments interesting and inspiring. However, your perspective on the January 6 committee hearing was disappointing. It is important for us to have a record of the traitorous activities of the last president for historical preservation. It is also important for people that did not know what transpired in the months prior to and right after the election to pay attention to the hearings. If we don’t pay attention to history it will happen again. I suspect many people follow you and your perspective and dare I say are influenced because you usually have thoughtful ideas on many subjects. It is important for the American public to understand how close we came to an actual coup. If you were not aware of the significance of January 6, I would advise you to pay attention to the future committee hearings. This was a planned insurrection by the previous president to stay in power. We need to understand the significance of his action for posterity and to stop others that will try it again.

    Billionaires
The critique on billionaires is not that they made something from something. It’s that they and their supporters have been telling everyone that anyone can be a billionaire if they just work hard. We are pointing out that this is not true. You need access to resources, networks and capital that is not available to everyone.

    Glad he’s back
Larry has for years been a fantastic enriching voice. He’s honest and doesn’t talk down cynically to people on mic that I have heard ever and that is amazing for me since he makes points.

The episode with W. Kamau Bell is a must listen
Always enjoy Larry’s perspective. This discussion about Kamau’s documentary was so good, I sat in my car in front of my office to finish it. I didn’t want to wait.

Like Hanging with a Good Friend
This show is like hanging out with a smart, interesting, funny friend. Larry has a soothing conversational tone, he interviews a wide range of people, and his decency always shines through. I miss the Nightly Show, so I’m glad I found him here.

    Happy I found This
I love Larry’s perspective and it makes me think about things differently. I love his intros even more than his interviews. I do like the questions he poses to his guests though. I learn something new every time I listen.
  • Mary H Kansas City
Intelligent Discussions with a dash of humor
Larry gives listeners his own thoughtful commentary at the beginning of each show, about a particular current topic- just as if you were across the table from him. His guests aren’t the same celebs you hear pushing a project on so many podcasts- it’s people associated with something Larry is interested in regarding todays culture and society. I appreciate that he rarely interrupts his guests/ he actually LISTENS and then offers comments. His questions are thoughtful and researched. And bc he’s a comic- you’ll hear an impromptu quip every so often! Give it a try!
  • Funny name here
Usually love the show but . . .
Larry, you always share interesting thoughts and have thought-provoking people. I was therefore surprised on the Bob Costas show to hear you conflating Darwinism and Social Darwinism. One is a scientific theory and the other is a scientific theory misapplied to economics as a justification for the current social order.

    Love Larry
Long-time listener and fan. I loved your monologue You’re not wrong, but this ain’t right. You raised many good points. I also appreciate your humility in sharing your own example that brought you shame. I have done the same and need to remember your wise words.

You are the voice of reason
Thank you!!! This intro is the best. Please get another TV show!

    Love you, Larry, but...
I agree that the interview with W Kamau was just cringy. I understand that perhaps W Kamau may be more a progressive than you but...Larry, you seemed to be playing devils advocate for the sake of playing devils advocate. I’ve followed both of you for years and am quite mystified as to how contrary this Interview was. As if W Kamau was trying to convince you that unicorns or exist. Sigh.
  • Wjslsh
No no clue Larry Wilmore was this problematic
The episode with W. Kamau Bell was so darn cringey. I couldn’t believe a black man had to even sit there and explain these things to another black man. I tried to stick with the discussion. But based on Larry’s questions and assertions it felt very much like explaining racism to white people. Perhaps Larry has been rich or disconnected from the “black struggle “experience a bit too long… perhaps his guest was able to turn him around By the end of that episode. But, I will never know because I ended up turning it off and unsubscribing.

    Black lady court room
I just finished watching black lady sketch show and thought, can’t wait for robin to go back on Larry’s podcast. And poof, here she is. You never let us down Larry. Keep up the good work.

    Larry is the best.
I avoid heavy podcasts these days. I feel permanently broken since 2016. I do come back to this podcast on the regular cause Larry Willmore is such a reasonable and smart person. Even when I don’t agree with him I don’t find him unreasonable. Quite frankly I wish he would do more pop culture topics so I could listen to this podcast more regularly. I’m glad he covers weighty topics but for selfish reasons I want him to do more pop culture, comedy, arts, and interviews with interesting personalities
