    Great podcast
I’ve been really happy with this podcast - sometimes they miss a week, but I’ll take exceptional quality over exceptional punctuality. :) My only niggle is that it’s hard to find the links to the items, cause it’s hard to find the podcast on boing boing’s site. I end up Google’ing for the specific episode. I’ve bought several things based on their recommendations; so far things are working out fine.

    Always a Treat
Having been a longtime BB reader, I enjoy the foray into podcasts with a great deal of delight. Mark and Xeni always bring all kinds of interesting gadgets and gear to the forefront. Now if I only had a big enough expense account to buy all of the goodies! Lots of fun, from people I like.

Great new toys and useful gewgaws.
Very handy for finding new useful and/or fun stuff. There's always something I want or need on each episode.

    A satisfying treat
Gadgets is a great podcast for those interested in diving into tech without getting overwhelmed as can so quickly happen elsewhere. They handle each podcast topic intelligently and, so far at least, in a bias-free way. I'm definitely staying around for more podcasts and am excited to see where they take me.

    We All Need Boing Boing
I've been a boingboing reader for years. It's like they have a direct channel to my brain where I always find the web's most interesting nuggets. Hands down, the editors of boingboing win the Internets. My one compliant - I'm not a huge fan of the recent layout change. The font is too small and it is a bit of a strain to read. Love Love that the Gadget podcast. Who else would I trust for the latest gadget reviews. THX!

    Fantastic, fun, & informative
I think that my favorite part of Boing Boing Gadgets is the way that Mark approaches topics & gadgets with almost childlike fascination. He does the same thing on Gweek. If he isn’t familiar with something, he asks just about every question imaginable, in an effort to properly inform himself, and in turn, the audience. Sometimes the questions are off in left field out of nowhere, but those questions often bring answers that you “didn’t know that you needed to know" but are now amazed that you now know and are incredibly happy because of that. (Total run-on sentence, but fitting.) Xeni is also great, but she approaches topics like a journalist, because she is in fact a journalist. :)

    Very Helpful
This podcast has been quite helpful to me and is good to listen to if you're trying to find neat gadgets that you can use in your everyday life.

    authentic reviews
I listened to episode 19 and enjoyed the fact that every product they reviewed was a product they had personally purchased and used. This authentic experience sharing is a nice touch instead of the advertising feel other review show have were gadgets are sent in to them by companies wanting a review and air time.

    Really enjoyed listening
I've been a regular BoingBoing reader for a while and have enjoyed the gadgets posts but have never actually listened to the podcast until now. I'm not much of a podcast listener either but I may become one. The ease of conversation between hosts was pleasant and the level of detail discussed was quite informative. It definitely added a helpful dimension that just reading the post does not quite achieve.

I have been a big fan of my now 5 year old ebag. It was really nice to hear a trusted review of the newest version before I replaced my old travel bag.

    Beware of this podcast!
This podcast is dangerous. The ‘gadgets’ reviewed (a very loose term that includes clothing, luggage, books, and kitchen supplies) are so expertly curated and the reviews themselves so captivatingly detailed, you are very likely to end up making a purchase at the end of the podcast. I’m a big fan of co-host Xeni’s travel and cooking tastes, Mark’s magic and DIY interests, and Jason’s sports reviews. Beware of this podcast. It might cost you money.

Great episode. I appreciated Xenis update & find the mental imagery of Mark jumping on his carry-on hilarious.

    Episode 19
Okay, I don't fly much, so my travel gear only has to fit into the back, or on the roof of, my fine Swedish touring wagon. In fact, one of the reasons I don't fly is I don't care for the modern experience, most notably the TSA requirements and the trend toward all carry-on. But, while I personally miss the days when most of our gear was stowed in the hold and the overhead bins still had room for free blankets, I was intrigued by the perspectives of two such seasoned and enthusiastic travelers. I was drawn in by the romantic concept of traveling light, with all my needs in one obsessively organized package. Still, I tremble at the thought of traveling without a skateboard, mountain bike, and maybe a canoe--all of which will earn me luggage surchages (except the canoe, which will just elicit stern glares). So one of the bags may not be for me. However, I am in the market for a portable vaporizer. I've used a plug-in model for years, and I love everything about it. I'm really psyched that technology is finally making portable vaporizers practical. I had been looking at the Pax, but, as Zeni notes, it uses plastic and metal intead of glass. I'm excited to head down to my local shop and check out the Davinci--especially since it will be perfectly legal to use here in Oregon as of July, 2015. On that topic, I hope that as we head into a new era of cannabis tolerance, Xeni recognizes the world of cannabis users isn't divided into "Holy crap I need my fix!" and "My doctor has recommended a hybrid strain with 18 percent THC and 3 percent CBD vaporized at 345 degrees to mitigate my symptoms." Weed is good medicine for physical ailments, to be sure, but it also has a wide range of therapeutic properties people enjoy for everything from creative inspiration to sensual stimulation. People using weed for all sorts of reasons deserve a clean, healthy hit. Let's not denigrate some kitties just because they like the catnip.

  • What it's really all about
    Informative and Entertaining
I only recently got turned on to the podcast but as a long time reader of boing boing it is a great way to get thoughtful insight and thoughts of the boing boing staff. As a gadget geek it has a great diversity to it so it isn't always the same reviews
  • Awksome
Lots of useful (and specific) recommendations
Much better than your average “here’s a cool thing” recommendation post or online review—Xeni and Mark describe the products they’re recommending, how/when/why they’ve used them, and why the products met or exceeded their expectations—AND they have a conversation about the recommendations, asking each other questions about the products and comparing them to other, similar things they’ve encountered. Their descriptions and the ensuing discussion provide the context necessary to figure out if I would also like the product they’re describing—which, sadly for my wallet, is often the case. Also, it’s just fun to listen to people talk about things they think are awesome.

    Do you love gadgets?
Unlike so many podcasts, this one has a sharp, simple focus (cool gadgets) and keeps it all in around 20 minutes an episode. A great source to learn about new, innovative inventions to bring happiness to your life!

Xeni & Mark keep things fun and informative and I trust their opinions to be objective. They cover the stuff they know and use and off real world experience. Thanks

Show be on you watch list
I like how the podcast isn't just a long advertisement but more of people discussing product's pros and cons. Most of the gadgets they discuss I'm not that interested in some of the stuff they talk about but ill stay in tune because they do talk about some cool stuff. My one critique would be the sound quality can be a bit distracting from the conversation but it isnt too bad

    Gadgets #19 review
Great podcast. I travel lots and all the products mentioned in episode #19 seem like good “buy it for life” products, especially the Briggs & Riley Baseline Carry-On Bag. Very useful info and fun conversation. Thanks!

Do NOT ever listen to this Podcast! Unless you want to hear great real world critiques of real products made for the real world. Really! I love the hosts great affection of each other and this Podcast puts a big smile on my face listening to it overtime. Danger! You may want to buy everything they talk about. I know I do. Another great Podcast from Boing Boing.

    Fun…but hide your credit card
A great chance to listen to reviews on products I’d otherwise know nothing about. ;-)
  • tbeckett
    Still a fun podcast
I’ve been a listener since Gadgets began and they’ve hit a groove. I’m not usually one for one-take conversational podcasts, RadioLab and 99pi are more my speed. But Xeni & Co do a great job of staying focused and staying fun with this rolling review of interesting doodads.
