-
knowledgeaholicWell done and interestingI enjoyed this podcast. They kept it interesting
-
Enunciate DamnitSubscription worthy?!?!?Sorry but I’m not willing to pay to listen to a podcast. Isn’t that what the ads are for. Lord knows I have to hear enough of those on ALL wondery podcasts.

CandyReneeSAbsolutely amazing & must listenI was fascinated and already plan on listening again from the beginning all the way back through. I am so curious about the talk blonde Elizabeth was last seen with, since it would appear she never came forward nor was ever identified. So many good and cohesive details maxed out. I revisit this case periodically and this was a welcomed breath of new information for me.

it will hook youExcellent!Tracy is GREAT as always - and voice actors are very good. As soon as the so-called experts come in after the first set of episodes is where it goes slightly awry. The gentleman is great but I find the other female to be completely nauseating. She completely disregards what Tracy says and is totally obtuse. Doesn’t add anything to the Podcast!
-
LexCateTracy is the bestLoved Tracy’s narration as always! Can’t believe I hadn’t known about this podcast!

huenewExtraordinaryLooking at the date on this Podcast, I ask myself how did I miss this expose? It is extremely well-done. I’ve read about 5 books on the Dahlia case, and I cannot fathom the crime. It was primitive, barbaric, ritualistic, satanic. 85% of the information on this Podcast, gathered from LE files and media, and about other similar cases at the time, had escaped me. Previous authors had stated that the Dahlia Files are still sealed by the LAPD up to this day. These women’s lives were important. There has always been barbarism. ‘Hollywood’ did not create Evil. But they often sanitize it.

Taken nickname 73AddictingI loved this! The narrating and I’m depth detail Is incredible. They truly immerse you into these crimes

DEADBOY ROTTENPaid subscription…Why!?I was really excited about this podcast only to be disappointed with the fact I would have to pay $30 and some change just to listen To this one podcast by wondery. To be fair, the Black Dahlia serial killers podcast, from the two episodes I heard were fantastic. If you can spend the money I highly recommend but unfortunately I am not willing to so that is why there is only three stars there.
-
beccalc15Best crime podcast everThis was so detailed n well done!
-
Lisett517Enough with the subscriptionsCan you just release the episodes already
-
Mann0331Good podcast but it cuts off every 10 minutes.Enjoy the podcast but it shuts off 3 or 4 times every episode! Super annoying!!! Won’t turn back on without closing out the app and bringing it up again. All other podcasts work great. Just anything from Wondery!
-
AudLawSanVoice actors detract from storiesA lot of assumptions in the story telling and the voice actors are hyperbolic
-
Alloverr13Trick you into subscribingVery rude that they give you the first few episodes and then you have to pay to hear the rest. Dirty trick. Won’t subscribe.
-
k8ecashCheeeeeeeeesyOverly overdramatized. Just tell the story.
-
twindaddy05LameLame, cheesy and overdramatized.
-
LosksbInteresting series!I normally like the dramatization series that Wondery puts out like American history tellers & others. But this one is a bit cheesy at times with the voice actors and some of the music riffs are a bit much, but still told well! The writing is novel-like, so it feels like a dramatized audio book! All in all, an interesting listen.
-
Lee GeraniosWell doneWell done. I liked the dramatization.
-
1336532Not worth itNot worth the listen considering you only get to hear 1/18th of the story before they tell you to subscribe to another podcast service.
-
Miabella316Such a great podcast!I love how this podcast keeps you interested by acting actors on the podcast. Really keeps me intrigued. Love this podcast and hope they bring more back. :)
-
alisanicoleharringtonInteresting storiesSome of the voice overs are a little distracting and unconvincing.
-
DjamezcuaI want moreI really enjoyed this Podcast and I wish there were more episodes.

ProtestPedophiliaInsteadLiesFACT-CHECK: Kamala is not African-American. Also, one star for going political and involving ridiculous liberalism.
-
pumpkin243Hokey voice actingI could do without the voice acting in these... it’s super hokey and at times offensive. Unnecessary at best it really detracts from what would otherwise be an excellently researched podcast. This goes for all of their other podcasts I’m afraid
-
LulahbelBest True Crime PodcastI’m so sad I finished this podcast story. It was so good. I feel like nothing compares to it at this point. So so so intriguing and well done.
-
bookiecalli2Gave ya 2 stars for involving politics. ESP liberal crooks

❤️thisgamegood, but trigger warningi really liked this podcast and would give it five stars if it wasn’t for the voice acting and re-enactments. in episode two they re-enact the rape and murder of georgette bauerdorf and it is disgusting, violent, and triggering. it’s completely unnecessary and never should have been put in, or at LEAST have had a trigger warning. (if you’d like to skip that scene, it’s from about 25:48-26:12) nearly all of the other re-enactments and voice acting are cringey, but worth suffering through for the story. other than that, it’s an informative and interesting podcast with excellent narration and storytelling.
-
RacheowTrigger Warning-Episode 2I started listening to this podcast recently and liked it until I got to episode 2. They use voice actors to reenact the sexual assault and murder of Georgette. There is no reason at all to include this audio for anything but shock value. It was extremely triggering and upsetting. I listen to podcasts about true crime where sexual assaults have taken place and all of these creators are able to speak on these subjects without trying to recreate the sounds. That was totally unnecessary and disgusting. I can’t believe a publication this large would “okay” something like this.

Bai1009Not worth listening toI love the idea but it's more ads than facts. Almost every 10 minutes there's an ad or 2 as if this is a TV show 😒
-
nycfluxsterGood but missing episodesI'm enjoying the show, but what happened to episodes 13-20? They seem to be missing.
-
LADHPretty Good; A Little Too LongOverall I thought it was interesting. I’d never really heard of all those murders. But after a while, I got confused as to what was happening with each victim with each man interviewed and which case they’d been a person of interest.
-
LovinLady10Fantastic EscapeI love all the Wondery Podcasts. It is so nice to put my headphones in, relax and take a journey into the unknown with the Wondery team. At first I saw the negative reviews and thought, i would listen for myself, I am so happy I did. It’s a fantastic podcast!
-
MberaGreat Story, but Awful Voice ActingI love Wondery podcasts and I have been thinking of purchasing a subscription to Wondery Plus. After I finished The Wonderland Murders, I was eager to give The Black Dahlia a listen. I am so disappointed. The voice acting is so bad that it becomes a distraction. There are moments when it adds to the telling of the story (press conferences and new bulletins), but the interviews with the investigators are just awful. I still intend to finish the series because I’m learning so much about these poor women that I had not yet heard. I will just have to take breaks once or twice an episode when I get annoyed with the cheesy attempts at east coast accents and obnoxious fake crying.
-
notsgolcSilly re-enactmentsLove true crime podcasts but didn’t enjoy this one. The re-enactments are so corny and over the top.
-
Rumi FanTerrific NarrativeBrilliant
-
TwilyghtSansSparklesNot Misophonia-FriendlyI had to stop listening. I wish they’d keep the lip smacking out of the re-enactments.
-
Rc14785446Titles don’t match episodesIs it just me or anyone else having this problem? So confused!
-
Bx KiddoNot for meMeh. I love the genre, but the overly-polished narration style + reenactments don’t do anything for me. I struggle to stay engaged.
-
jreillybGreat Pod but get your fingers readyVery entertaining (although the Black Dahlia case was solved pretty much solved, see “Root of Evil pod) just have your fingers ready to skip, TONS of commercials. Would make the pod nearly unlistenable without the ability to skip ahead. The acting is very good as well.
-
BlondieskatzInformativeI’m on podcast 15 in season one, really interesting so far. Lots of info I didn’t know about. Only negative is the one lady who interrupts and talks over the other man and woman. She should be told how rude that is.
-
Bailey S.Fascinating! This podcast is very interesting. I really enjoy the way they tell the story.
-
TheMissaGet rid of the commercialsWay to many commercials. Story is done well but the commercials ruin it. Put them at the end or the beginning and call it good. But 3 min commercial breaks don’t make me want to continue to listen.
-
TheidoreFgueststhe original narration was good but the guests they bring in i think starting episode 11 (?) were both so irritating that i kept skipping episodes. both the man and the woman were obnoxious and rude and made this incredibly unbearable. the initial episodes were really good though. also??? i skip all these ads but they made me absolutely wanna stop listening the one time i did hear them
-
.Heather.Darling.More ads than contentThese episodes are so short that it makes the 5 minutes of ads almost unbearable. The stories are dramatized and based in speculation, not fact. I unsubscribed midway through a season because it was so slow and inconclusive and I looked up the wiki page on the crime to actually see what happened. I’ve heard one hour single episodes of shows more in depth than the 7 hour seasons this show has. Narration is okay and characters are well distinct, I’ll give the show that for production.
-
RobbielolaLove this podcast!Narration is great and the actor’s voices are great!
-
Lisa22168Interesting & entertainingInteresting story. Hosts are excellent and I love that there are voice actors in it too.
-
jennmaplePainfulI really want to like this series but the “actors” are soooo painful and distracting to listen to. The narrator has such a great voice and tells a great story, then suddenly you’re interrupted by cheesy re-enactment voices.
-
rameygirlAddicting!Soooo good! Great storytelling and the podcaster’s voices are clear and concise. Binged this, Young Charlie, and the Wonderland Murders (I may have the name wrong, but the one about the porn star) all during a cross country road trip last summer. I really wish they’d put the new episodes on here instead of luminary but until that ever happens, these will still be some of the most entertaining podcasts I’ll have listened to!
