susannjGreat show butI’m glad you have sponsors but please learn how to introduce the ad breaks. They come at jarring times and jarring upbeat ads at a gruesome point in the storytelling. Seems disrespectful to the subject. You’ve been doing podcasts long enough to find a more appropriate way to place your sponsors’ ads.

SossiePerezPerfect!I don’t think his Kate gets enough credit I’m a communications major and murderino/crime junkie and this is serious, entertaining, engaging and you learn! I learned about history and crime through time as well as forensic science and investigative techniques for Paul. One of the best!

Christie in TNGreat showI loved the Wolf Family Episode. It’s extremely sad but the most interesting episode ever. I’ve never heard this case before. I love the 1920 time period plus we had pictures of how homes looked inside and out. Super cool and interesting. I’ve now gone down a rabbit hole the last few hours. Lol

Wildfirewife2324Interesting storiesBut really I’m just here for Paul Holes 🔥 HOT FOR HOLES

Tarzan wifeWolf Family MurdersErrors: The family members were hiding in the root cellar. The phones would have been a party line There was an operator who connected the person calling, and that is how news travelled fast. I know this area, and my Scandinavian ancestors homesteaded.in North Dakota. The Germans from Russia were a different culture.. This is a pretty well documented case. There were traveling marauders perpetrating across the midwest. as well-- Anyway, I just wish you wouldn't gloss over and refer to the other research better The Wolf family were Germans from Russia

emile@chicagoTheir voices thoughThis is one of my favorite podcasts! Their banter and the way they tell the stories is so engaging but I just find their voices so soothing :)
-
Cherie bellaLove the showReally enjoy the stories and learning about forensics

CalitralfazianLike peeling an onion with the wrong knifeIs it possible to get the important factual information revealed without being CRYPTIC? Please try. The current parsing out of the facts takes too long and is riddled with extraneous red herrings.
-
beth copeLove this podcast!Paul Holes and Kate Winkler Dawson are the best pair to walk through cold cases. The storytelling mixed with the forensics and real world police aspect make this such a cool and interesting listen each week! So happy they are with Exactly Right ❤️

Pg_1987Overall goodI like this show. I, like others, find Kate very annoying and very full of herself. It works cause Paul is very laid back and (seemingly) isn’t bothered too much by it. But I have to take breaks due to her constantly having to inject her own commentary about everything that doesn’t even involve her. She makes herself sound unintelligent but the show is decent. Paul Holes is very knowledgeable and easy to listen to. She just needs to tone it back a bit.

KrisSmartSo. Many. Ads.This is an amazing podcast, Paul and Kate are wonderful storytellers and I am a day one listener- but I can’t anymore. The Ads are so random, jarring, and shoved in the middle of a sentence. You are totally engaged in the story and then BAM! FORD TRUCKS! Blah blah blah! It’s extremely off putting. Also - Ad breaks seem to be 3-5 minutes long and you’ve come completely out of the story by the time they are done, and forgot what podcast you were even listening to! I don’t mind Ads when integrated into the show, they pay the people who make the podcast possible - but iHeartMedia has made it unlistenable.
-
castaway0726Too many adds!!!Don’t get me wrong, I love this show. It makes me sad though, cause now the bulk of the show is JUST adds!! I want to continue to be a fan, but it’s getting increasingly hard with the cuts offs from random advertising.

14639Great HostsI always learn something from Paul and Kate. Really enjoy this well researched and informed-opinioned show.

KturnmartOne of the bestOne of the best podcasts. Excellent sound quality and subject matter. Love hearing from experts instead of hosts opinions which many of the other true crime podcasts are. Even the banter between the hosts is amusing.
-
angababeAlmost perfectionI mostly love this podcast! I have very little patience for long episodes, but it doesn't bother me in this show. The only thing I don't love is that almost every time Kate asks Paul a question, she doesn't even give him an opportunity to answer before she starts guessing answers. If that stopped, the show would almost be perfection 🤩

NothgirbKate and Paul make the perfect duoIf you love the 16th 17th and 18th century anything, you are going to love this podcast. Kate and Paul do an amazing job with the details of these historical murders that you can visualize beautifully what happened and how it was solved or why it is still unsolved. I highly recommend this podcast!!!!

Castello KarinaChristmasIt’s not strange that they bulldoze the house. It’s 1945, if the fire chief declares the kids dead that’s it; the case is closed. Remember at that time there wasn’t the forensics that there are today so the family bulldozed it down to wipe out the horrible memory.

CoffeeandcherrypieBest TC podcast, hands down!Kate Winkler Dawson, Paul Holes and the “behind the scenes” crew of BB, put together a true crime podcast that is very engaging, polished and professional yet feels down to earth and accessible, and compelling whilst never being exploitative or sensationalistic. I am very picky about which True Crime podcasts I listen because unfortunately many seem to fall into the category of 1) Lacking a sense of overall professionalism, 2) Going for sensationalistic details or 3) Morphing into a show that focuses too much on the hosts personal lives or constantly sharing emotional reactions/personal opinions in response to the story they’re telling. At the beginning of each episode KWD and PH have some kind of personal check in, but I look forward to it as it gives you just the right amount of personal awareness/sense of connection that is ideal with a podcast you regularly listen to and then they roll right into the episode. This is hands down not just my favorite TC podcast but my favorite podcast full stop. 10/10, would recommend to anyone who has an interest in True Crime or just high quality storytelling :).

HTownCrimeJunkieInteresting and easy to listen toI love Paul and binged Small Town Dicks and needed more so tried this show. It’s a different dynamic than Small Town Dicks and I’m getting used to that. I think one thing that bothers me is I find Kate a bit annoying during the opening banter. I can definitely do without that but now they get going, I enjoy it a lot and can listen while I do dishes, laundry, etc, and it makes those tasks go by quicker. Revising my review. Kate is downright rude to Paul and it bothers me a lot.

Stay Sanitaryboringthey can’t tell a story

GetwiserRefreshingly professionalI love the organization of and consistency throughout this podcast! I also love the lack of filler words and that you don’t speak over each other. I usually get so annoyed with the chit chat at the beginning of podcasts but somehow y’all do it right - short and sweet. I hate that I’m caught up and have to wait for new episodes now, but it’s worth the wait!
-
ShayleeHubbsAMAZINGI’m obsessed with this podcast. I grew up in Alameda County and Contra Costa County so hearing Paul refer to cases he worked on is so interesting. I love his insight. Kate is amazing too with the way she sets up the story. Everything is so professionally done and so interesting. I look forward to it every week! :)

Bubbblezzz00A reliable favoritePaul’s forensics/law enforcement and Kate’s journalism/teaching/writing background make this an entertaining, educational, and unique true-crime podcast. A must-listen for true-crime fans with a particular interest in forensics and/or historical crimes.

Becca O., CTPhenomenal podcastOne of my absolute favorites. Intelligent, thorough, no nonsense or bias. Latest episodes were hard to listen to but so well done. Watching “The Keepers” rocked the foundation of my religion of origin, which I have since left. Thank you for covering it with discretion to the victims.

Another leminngGood show but too longThe single episodes are better, but the double episodes kill me. I’ve taken to just listening to the second half of the double episodes. The show is interesting and the hosts are cool, I just don’t have the time or bandwidth to waste an episode with that much detail that is summed up in 2 minutes.
-
Bravo WolfLove The Show!I love Paul and Kate- they crush historical true crime week after week. I’m pretty par-tic-u-lar about true crime and podcasts, and it’s just my humble oh-pin-ion, but I think this show is so im-por-tant. For real though, this show is excellent- y’all should do a live show sometime!
-
bkd65Polite Paul…why do you stay??I keep leaving this podcast because I find Kate W D so infuriatingly inept. She asks for Paul’s expertise without doing the work to provide basic info. He politely asks, she doesn’t know. Arrggh. Byeee. I mean it thus time. For an in depth pod on The Keepers, try Foul Play.
-
TazadeguerraVery interesting! This is a great show! Interesting mix of history and true crime shared by experts!
-
criticalreeder7564Know-it-allI’m so tired of Paul Holes and his “expertise” on everything. Kate asks him for his thoughts on stuff he can’t know anything about—why?—and he answers! He’s not a doctor! He’s not a lawyer! He’s just winging it, which is providing us with misinformation.

4Wards2centsUnique podcast with the most awesome hosts! This is one of the most unique and interesting podcasts out there, especially if you are a crime junkie and are fascinated by forensics. A podcast is only as good as its host(s) and it doesn’t get any better than Kate and Paul! It is obvious that Kate does thorough and vetted research and Paul’s experience and level of expertise is unmatched. Kate does a fabulous job of telling the stories and having Paul weigh in on how this would be looked at from today’s forensic perspective can give you a lot to think about. They recently covered a case that I have been obsessed with my whole life and now I feel like I know what happened and can put it to rest. Thanks Kate and Paul!

haglhineAwesome!Great idea taking such admirable people and making them accessible and giving them a new platform to ask for and get help hunting monsters. Thank you for what you do!
-
Runner5122Hands down, absolute best!I follow several true crime podcasts. Buried Bones is my favorite by far. Kate and Paul are an amazing team. Smart, well-researched and thought provoking. Kate is the best storyteller and Paul’s expert analysis keeps me looking forward to each week’s new episode.

LcgoezzzzMy husband is jealous of Paul HolesBut who wouldn’t be?
-
Kid thinkAdore both of these peopleWe all know how cool Paul Holes is. He brings wonderful, thoughtful insight that makes me pay more attention to detail in my day to day life. That man is a trove of strategy and information. Kate Winkler Dawson is an amazing writer and researcher; she makes me care about the people involved. She tells the stories in such an order to keep you listening and waiting for the next detail. Wicked Words is amazing, too! I love this podcast. Great work.
-
Devine Ms DSloweeThis is way too slow and drop out. She asked him what he thinks when she hasn’t even told him everything why???

ShainelandBuried Bones1) Halloween is the best. 2) I grew up in Houston, my dad made our garage into a maze. 3) My dad froze Snickers. And grapes.
-
Equestrian RiderPodcasts are very good but commercials are too long!I’ll start out by saying the hosts and their stories I give 5 stars to but the large number of commercials which are also extremely long compared to other podcasts, I give 2 stars to. I realize that sponsorship is important to be able to sustain podcasts, but the commercials on Buried Bones I believe are excessive. While this may be good for the podcast owner and hosts it is not so good for listeners. I also have a problem with the hosts reading the commercials.
-
karjovanPaul Lise KateI like Paul and he is so knowledgeable! Kate oh my gosh - she asks the stupidest questions. Oh Paul is a stomach ache normal! She sounds like a twit! I have stopped watching! Miss Paul and Billy!
-
belle.vaToo many adsLove this show but so many many ads. They just break in with no transition music and ruin the flow of the discussion.
-
NikinSeattleExcessive AdsGreat show but… the ads have become incredibly disruptive, taking you out of the story several times each episode. Please consolidate at the beginning and end.
-
cal.exicoRecommendedThis podcast does not get cloying or hammy. The two hosts just do their things well.
-
mysaralaughsLove this podcastI really enjoy this podcast and the in depth research for each case and the relative obscurity of most of the cases. The interaction between Kate and Paul adds a lot to each story and Paul’s experience and expertise enhance the stories. Thanks Kate and Paul for giving us a fantastic listen each week!
-
deletepopcatHalf the show is now ads.Snippets of info offered between advertising and monologue.

Kimbo JamboDr CrippenJust finished the second part of this story on my way home from work. I got online & ordered The Trial of Hawley Harvey Crippen before I even got out if the car! I am totally loving your pod cast! You 2 work well together. As a nurse & true crime buff I can guess a lot if Paul’s answers before he gives them. You totally played this story well Kate & blew me away with the male DNA at the end!! Thank you both for a great time!!! Kim P, Iowa.

MollerbearCan’t anymoreUntil today I was a day 1 listener. I have enjoyed the show with its stories from history I did not know. In addition to the adds becoming excessive I was really shocked to hear Kate’s homophobic remark to Paul in the beginning of episode entitled “Vanished pt 1”. She laughs and tells Paul he got a comment on his voice from a listener- and then giggles and says : I’m not sure how you will react because it’s from a guy. (Paul just laughs this off and makes no comment regarding the gender of the listener) This really struck me as they have felt with same sex relationships in the past, but Kates comment is juvenile and uncalled for from an educated person Yes, you have male listeners. But now you have 1 less.

My nicknam is LuSerious binging happened tonight!!!On my lonnngggg drive from H-Town to Oklahoma! You guys filled all five hours drive (and you are que’d up for another 2.5 hour drive tomorrow). I Love this show!!! Couple of parallels: Paul’s dislike to listen to himself on the podcasts- sounds to me that his voice resonates with listeners and fans much like some of us do with the voices of the ABC guy that states “….will be back in one minute.” After the initial into of each nights lineup. Or Sean Connery, Sam Elliot, Josh Mankowitz, Kieth Morrison, and so many SUPER voices we love to hear!!! I didn’t give any favorites away, did I? Kate, you are amazing! I love your other podcast TenFold More Wicked too, I must find it so I can finish the series. I also found y’all’s conversation about contacts and eyeballs brought back a memory to me. I had just gotten the extended wear contacts, and had no idea how to get them out of my eye. So, I just wore them for seven weeks straight. No problem, right? (Just five weeks too long). Then one night I was on a tractor (yes a John Deere tractor plowing a field) and got dust in my eyes. Man that hurt!!! So the next day at my “other” job- the retail job that actually paid me- my eyes hurt so bad. So, I went to the break from where we had a huge floor to ceiling mirror, sat down in the floor determined to get those contacts out of my eyes. As I’m sitting there trying to get the nerve up to put a finger in my eye (Paul!) to get this done, my manager walks by. He teases me a little & then says, “You hold your eye open while I grab the contact.” To which I said, “UUMMM, You hold my eye open while I grab the contact.” So, definitely get the resistance from both of you on retrieving you contacts!!! BTW- I got pretty good at it and then had Lasix.but, now I’m old and I have to have glasses again, ugh!! Ok back to cases I heard tonight. On the case of the disappearing wife, I think she knew what was happening. The manner that she went out and took the kids back across the street and left them. I think her killer may have held the baby boy as security she would follow instructions. Or it could be the ratty uncle (or an unknown) came around and either told her to get her daughter to safety, or she bargained for the kids safety, knowing that would be all she could do for them. I’ve recommended this show to so many other! Keep up the good works!
